I think above all I see him as a good person.
I worked in the medical field a number of years and I would say by and large they are better quality of people than other fields that I have worked in. But like everyone they make mistakes from time to time and there are bad apples thrown in the mix.
Most doctors were bookworms and didn't socialize well growing up so they are developing those skills as they age. This is why so many of the older ones seem to care more and understand compared to the new ones that are short and to the point. Many see this as arrogance but it usually isn't. However, they are all proud that they are smart as that was the driving force that go them there.

People used to see doctors as "higher entities" because they possessed knowledge that no one else had. Their word was rule. Now days, you can find out lots of information via the internet before you ever go to the doctor, so you don't need to run to them for every ailment. Also, people are much more comfortable about questioning the doctor's diagnosis and getting a second opinion. Lots of older people still follow the doctor's orders 100% without question. They are still in the mindset that doctors know what they are talking about and are always right. If they are told to stand on their head with a fish between their feet twice a day everyday, then by God, that's what they'll do to get better or stay healthy.

I'm lucky enough to have a doctor who is considered an expert in his field. He no longer sees regular patients, except for a select few. He's been my doctor since I was a toddler, and now he sees my kids, too.
I don't see him as either a higher entity (he just has training in something that I don't... no big deal), or as a regular person (we are not friends). He's a professional who is very good at what he does, so that's how I see him.
I try not to blur the lines when dealing with people in an official capacity. Doctors are not your buddies. Neither are teachers, lawyers, or even shop clerks. I treat people as professionals who have a job to do and who are expected to do the job well. The same way, I hope that they see *me* appropriately as well, as a patient, client, student, parent of their student, etc.

a higher entity...no way...!
Doctor's are not endowed with any special knowledge they didn't get from Medical School.
Some Doctor's are better then others. They take what they learned and expand on it to improve a surgical procedure or develop new medications. However, anyone in any profession can advance there profession by taking skills learned in school or on the job and improving upon them.
Remember 50% of Doctor's finished in the bottom percentile of medical school and there ae probably a whole bunch of MD's who barely passed there board exams.

wow what a question, its to bad that it even has to be asked, unfortunately im one of the many that have on going chronic health problems and is forced to go pay my respect once a month, ive had drs. that you give the normal amount of respect you give any human, and they act like the 5 miniutes that they grant you are an honor, and youve waited 5 months to get into see him because hes suppose to be the best in the land, and you walk away feeling cheated, and that you are lower than whale dung because you were just in the presence of some kind being that every time you opened your mouth it was takeing up some very valuable time , And this being who is next to God, looks at you like your a complete itiot,And then there are some really cool drs, they are few and far between, i have found out that the new generation of drs. are alot better, then yesterdays drs.

I see my doctor as a normal person, with more information in a certain area. I expect my doctor to treat me with respect as well, and listen to what I have to say (not brush aside what I am telling them and treat me like an ignoramous).
But today I had an encounter with a doctor who definitely thought that he was a higher entity....

For years doctors were thought of as something next to God.
Partly I think in many smaller communities he was one of the few that had any higher education. And he was expected to have all the answers. So they were held somewhat in awe...
I don't look at my doctors as anything other than my employee and person no better than I.

I used to have a doctor who flirted with me. I also have a few friends who are doctors even though I don't know them in that capacity. Ever since the flirtatious doctor, I have seen doctors as regular people; before him, though, I thought they were smarter and better than everyone else. :)

you mean doctors arent people? last time i checked they were just normal people. not some kind of higher life form. you should treat all people with a level of respect but just because one person is a doctor and another is a garbage collector doesn't mean one deserves more respect than another.
