After using the following in an answer, I decided to pose this as a question.
Does anybody have variations of this answer? Typing the same sentence day in, day out is getting monotonous, but I can't NOT give this answer to someone whose dog is in pain, crying for two weeks, has had diarrhea for 3 days, has only had one pup and she's still big, etc. etc.
I am losing my faith in humanity. And my eyes have rolled so far back I can see behind me.
TIA.

I like DP's answer. I think we should all use this. In this day and age when questions are posed in "text message" language - that abbreviation seems so appropriate. Let's all use it - then people won't think we are being mean! I can't tell you how many times I have gotten thumbs downs for asking (not telling - asking) the person if they had simply considered taking hte animal to the vet. I get thumbs downed for telling them, now for asking. Oh well.
Perhaps they want one of the wonderful home remedies we have seen on YA
-gasoline for fleas
- alcohol of a hole in the ear
- soap and water for some guy's dog who had a chunck of flesh taken out of his dog's leg
- Robitussin for allergies OR a cold
-tylenol for pain (or baby aspirin, depends on who is answering)
And the list goes on and on - oh - and then the guy that wrote to all the people that answered one of his questions about his dog having pyometra so he took her to the vet and the vet performed surgery and found out she was actually pregnant so he ripped everyone who asnwered his first question a new one. Look at what we on YA have achieved, we can now diagnose animals and your vet will simply perform procedures if you go tell them what it wrong with your pet - even major surgery!

I hear you 100%, people really need to be educated about pet care. I'm thinking that commen sence has gone out the door. I was hoping that Yahoo Q&A would help with this problem, I just don't think people look to see if a question they may have has already been answered many times already. I also can't think some many people don't know about vets! Maybe people will get it soon, we can only hope...Take care;~)

I just save several of my better answers on Word, then cut and copy them! That way I don't have to take a deep breath each time I have to repeat the same Dang thing!!!
I wonder if these ML members will ever get the point that CALLING THE VET IS FREE!!!!! And they know that they Vet knows what he is talking about. Most of the people in here haven't the faintest clue!!!!
Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Vet is best.
I don't know.
But I do know what you mean. It really makes you wonder what someone is hoping for when they ask, "So, my dog is bleeding/vomiting/defaecating profusely, what do I do?"
I love that I work in a grooming shop and yet people bring their dogs to us with medical problems and we're supposed to solve them. Do you go to your hairdresser looking for medical advice? Seriously.
We wash. We dry. We cut. We do not have a degree in veterinary medicine.
I mean, yeah, we do see a lot of different health problems and are able to identify common ones rather quickly, but still, we're not experts, nor do we want to be. I chose to work in dog grooming to avoid having to work with sick animals. Geez.
Take the *&%^ing dog to the vet.

I think we will need eye correction surgery soon and I know I'm going to need a neck brace from just shaking my head all the time in disgust!
Now how do you suppose I'm going to explain that to my insurance company. Sprained neck while answering stupid questions on YA! LOL I don't think so.
ADD: I think your right Beleiver! I'm going to jot that down what DP suggested and use that from now on.

Taka Dogga to Vetta.....
Sorry, that's all I got.
I feel your pain though -- typing the same damn thing over and over and over is getting a bit tiresome. Why can't people just get a clue and take their animals to the vet, without us telling them to???
Eesh.....

I wish I had a suggestion for you.
It becomes frustrating and points out that people really ARE idiots.. or worse.
I really hate the "I can't afford to feed my dog any better" and "I can't afford to take my dog to training but its doing XYZ...?" questions too.

i don't understand why people take on the responsibility of an animal, and they neglect its care either?
if a person can't afford the medical end of pet ownership, they don't need an animal.
simple as that!

Some people don't know better. It's sad, tho. I try not to even read those questions any more because it's too frustrating.
