Well he got into a boxing match with a storage cabinet in the team hauler.And the cabinet had all it could take and broke Kyles hand.
He was mad about his transmission breaking at the Glen and in anger punched a door in the transporter resulting in a fracture that required surgery.

When Kyle Petty blew his engine at Watkins Glen,he got mad and hit the trailer door so hard it broke his hand.Now Chad Mcummbie is in the 45 Dodge.

I saw the show and the reason is he got mad at it was either the race at the Glenn ot the race before he punched the side of his hauler because of his performace and broke one or two bones in his hand.

Petty breaks hand: McCumbee to Drive at Michigan Austin Petty co-hosted "The Morning Drive" today on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio with Marty Snider. During the show, Austin revealed that his father, Kyle, injured his hand this weekend at Watkins Glen.
Austin Petty: "I'm not going to disclose all the information but there was an incident between his fist and a wall and a broken bone."
Marty Snider: "Is he OK? [Is] everything alright?"

His temper got the best of him! After his engine blew at Watkins Glen, he hit his hand on the door of his hauler and broke it! Now he doesn't have to worry about any DNF's because he can't even race! Smart move Kyle...NOT!!!!

After the watkins glen race kyle petty hit his hand on a door and broke his hand, he had to have surgery on it. Chad Mccumbee will be racing for Kyle this weekend.
