Well, here in the midwest we wear clothes because it is soo darn cold in the winter- and they prevent sunburn in the summer.
The clothes God made them were a symbol of blood covering the cost of sin. GOd had to kill an animal to get the skin. Adam and Eve were ashamed because they were no longer innocent- they knew the difference between good and evil. Their shame came from disobedience- not from nakedness.

You actually asked 2 questions - the first being, does the Adam and Eve story have anything to do with why we wear clothes.
Yes. As soon as they ate the forbidden fruit, they became aware of their nakedness, and they immediately covered themselves up.
And why do children have absolutely no shame in running around naked?
You answered your own question - they do it because they're not ashamed. They don't know to be embarrassed. Shame and modesty is something we learn as we get older.

No. Adam and Eve were sent down here from a higher heaven in Jesus Christ's universe to biologically uplift and to socially and technologically educate us. They came down here as physically superior 8 ft tall adults with halos about 37,000 years ago. They were not the first man and woman on earth, that was about one million years ago. Adam and Eve and the humans here all wore clothes for protection from too much sunlight and for warmth in the winter. There was no false modesty back then. When Cain killed Abel, did he then mate with his mother Eve? No, he went out into the land of Nod and selected a superior human wife from many hundreds of millions of humans then living on this planet.
The much later, over-modest Jews (they were so ashamed of their bodies that that they told even married Jewish couples to have sex only in the dark !) added their false modesty and other junk into the Old Testament stories.
Today there are some Christians who join nudest colonies; are there any religious Jewish or Islamic nudist colonies? Probably not. There are secular ones of course.
If you look at the popularity of Frederick's and Victoria's Secret type skimpy, provocative catalogs, you should know that dressing in certain clothes is far more imaginative-sexy than just being nude. I like the Islamic practice of having wild married sex only in the home and to dress very conservatively out in public. That is wise in my view. When AIDS gets far worse, the remaining living ones might like that practice better. Ha ha. We'll see. Chrislam? It is already starting in Lebanon. Don't worry, I guarantee it won't be in your neighborhood before next Monday ! LOL
Little Children have no concept of false modesty. If we have to clothe all humans, then all animals, birds, bugs and fungi should also be clothed ! Get to work knitting and pearling or whatever ! It's midnight --is your pet rock fully clothed ? LOL
Did you all know that all souls are naked? They are !
Mine is bright flaming orange --the color of Revelation --
Fire Baptism (Shhh ! Don't tell anybody !)

My wife says she feels guilty, everytime she buys a new dress. Imagine how Eve felt, when Adam had to knock an animal down, and rip it's hide off for her to wear. It was a cold world they were sent into...
That hasn't changed...
amen.

Yes, God made them coats of skins to clothe them. Children are not capable of shame.
Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

The A&E story has nothing to do with anything. It is a myth, a bit of holy babytalk stolen from myths of earlier religions. Reminds me of the story of missionaries who, as they say there, came to Hawaii to do good and stayed to do well. Dole, for one, was a missionary. Earlier missionaries insisted that Hawaiian girls younger than 12 put on clothes. Suddenly, because to the Hawaiians a clothed female meant she was 'ready' for sex, girls in the pre-teens were getting pregnant. Ah, religion!
