Stammering, I think, is from fear of saying something wrong and getting put down for it. Eloquent speaking comes with practice. Why don't you find a chapter of Toastmasters International and join. They teach (by doing it) public speaking and it is good therapy and practice. To find out more about toastmasters go to: www.toastmasters.org.

For a lot of info on stammering just type in "stuttering" into Yahoo! web search. A number of informative links comes up. Wikipedia has a good summary.

Good luck, good health, peace and love!

I don't know what a professional might say or speech therapist, but I could suggest maybe you practice reading aloud from books or magazines that you like in private.

Practice pronouncing words completely, not too fast or slow, see what your natural rythme is. Speaking eloquently involves having a good vocabulary and choosing the right words - a thesaurus could be some help; it provides words that are similar but that have slightly different usage or meaning.

If you don't already have the books, I could also recommend obtaining copies of the Strunk & White books. Speaking eloquently also involves knowing your grammar rules. Strunk & White are excellent references.

Hope something above might help.
