Not a Muslim, but there is no proof that Jesus ever claimed to be god. Just because something is in a book (which, incidentally, Jesus doesn't claim to be God in the Bible, either) does not make it so. I believe Jesus was a moral teacher. If indeed someone did write a book claiming Jesus said such a statement, then that person (not Jesus) is a liar.
BTW, it's spelled "prophet", not "profit".

When did he say he was God? Show me where in the Holy Bible, Jesus says "I'm God, or worship me". The jews tell him that he will be killed cause he claimed he was God but where does he make that claim in the Holy Bible?
Also, even if there is a place in the Holy Bible where Jesus claims to be God, we muslims believe that the current Holy Bible is altered, and it is not the same Holy Bible sent to Jesus by God, but rather an altered version.
However, I agree with you, Jesus is far from lying and he never lied, nor did any prophet of God.

The muslims are sort of right in that it's not recorded that Jesus said the words: I am God. A better question for them would be why the pharisees accused him of blasphemy:
Mat 26:63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. 64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
Since it's not blasphemy to claim to be a human, Jesus obviously was telling them that he was God. So you may want to ask them if the pharisees were right in believing he wasn't God, and if so, why they refer to a blasphemer as a prophet.

He didn't say he was God. The Christian books say this, but, as Muslims, we believe those books have been corrupted by man (no offence).
We believe that Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, came with the message of monotheism, which is the same message all prophet came with.
We believe that:
[112:1] Proclaim, "He is the One and only GOD.
[112:2] "The Absolute GOD.
[112:3] "Never did He beget. Nor was He begotten.
[112:4] "None equals Him."
Hope it helps.
Peace.

He NEVER claimed to be God. In the Quran it says that God will ask Jesus on Judgment Day if that is really what he said and Jesus will say no:
116-118: And when Allah Almighty will say: "O Jesus, son of Mary, did you ask people to deify you and your mother besides Allah?" he will say: "Your knowledge extends much beyond mine. How could it behave me to say that which I know to be untrue? If I had said such a thing surely you would have known it. You know even what is in my heart but I do not know what You know. You - and You alone - know all what is hidden from us. I said nothing to them except what You bid me to say which was that they should obey Allah Almighty who is their Rabb (lord) as well as mine. As long as I stayed with them, I kept a vigilant watch over them. But when You completed the term of my life, You alone watched over them. You have devised measures for everything. If you punish them, they are devotes to you or if you forgive them, you have the absolute power but your power is blended with wisdom."
119: Allah Almighty will say: "This is the day when the truth of the truthful will benefit them. They shall have gardens wherein streams flow, where they will dwell beyond the count of time. This is because they adhered to Allah's law and Allah Almighty recompensed them for it. This is, indeed, the highest achievement."

jesus said he was God. my sources says not:
john 14:28 reads--
" .......BECAUSE THE FATHER IS GREATER THAN I AM"
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Mark 13:32
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
John 8:54
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Matthew 19:17
1st commandment: you shall not take other gods before Me! (God)
Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me
John 7:16
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Deuteronomy 6:4
"my God! my God! why haven forsaken me!"
John 20:17 (New American Standard Bible)
17) Jesus said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God."
Luke 22:42 (New American Standard Bible)
42) saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."
If Jesus was God he would have no need to pray this, because he would already know God's will.
