I have long, thick, wavy hair. I've just had one disaster after another (complete with the extremely high price tag). Does anyone live in this area and know where to go where they actually know what they're doing? pleeease help! Thanks!

I know exactly what you're going through!
I searched forever to find a hairstylist that knew what the heck they were doing with naturally curly hair & when I finally found one... I had to move out of state!
When I got to where I am now, I asked around. If I saw a woman with hair like mine, I asked where she got her hair done. It took me a couple of times to find my stylist but when I found her...I found her. & I haven't stopped going to her.
Just ask around basically... Word of mouth goes far but keep in mind that it may take a little while to find "the one".
=)

I have lived in south Florida all my 49 years, and am in the Field of cosmetology.your best bet for a good haircut is to ask people, with the same texture of hair, that you like their finished look who and where they went to.you do not have to spend a fortune to look good, Supercuts specializes in cuts and are very reasonable in price. go to the nearest one and ask for the manager or the technical adviser for that salon to do your cut.

not to be too cliche!
BUT, if you go to the Mall and there is a Regis salon go there! this people are very well trained with the latest ideas and the are knowledgeable. their prices are fare too.
I live in Delray(Fla) too and the water is very hard for your hair added to that the humidity! terrible friend for hair.

Good luck!

Next time you see someone with hair you like, ask them who their hairdresser is. I've found this to be alot easier and pain-free than trial and error.
