I think he's a great speaker and he really makes you feel like you can have a better life. But I am wondering if following his advice/inspiration has really changed anyone's life.

I find him a bit too " happy go lucky". All his sermons are on the same exact thing. He seldom quotes the bible or tells you what to do when life starts kicking your butt. Sorry but not everyone has it as easy as he does. He hasn't changed my life.

Joel has a great following, and I am sure htere are some saved individuals in his camp somewhere. However as a Christian when questioned on national tv on several occasions about certian issues that are at odds with many Christians and chruches over the "same sex issue" Joel is rather silent and refuses to actualy support the scripture on these subjects. His comments of "well we don't want to be judgemental on issues of that sort" lead me to believe that Joel is interested in a mass appeal and the money of it all. Preaching a water down message of hope and prosperity, and avoiding the issues of homosexuality and abortions in the church today. I don't watch him any more regardless of how many people he get in attendance.

He may not thump the bible like other evanlgelists, but what's the harm in just teaching people how to be a better person? Why do we have to have scripture thrown at us without connecting it to our daily lives? Yeah we can listen to the likes of Bakker, Swaggert, Falwell and Haggert, who preach and thump and judge while they betray their wives, some with other women and some with men.
I say if someone can make God make sense to the masses and make people want to be the best husband, son, daughter, wife etc, that they can be, then more power to him.
Living a better life as a human being is much more worthy of having been created in His light, than reciting scripture without understanding its importance or applying it to our world.
I like him and I like what he teaches.

i'm non christian and i never miss his show. he's a good speaker. but ultimately, it's nothing more than fluff. i'm sure he's genuine and sincere. but, from a practical point of view, his advice holds little credibility, no more than that of dr.phil, or any other inspirational speaker.

people who've changed their lives based on what he has said are just hard workers to begin with.

he does make you feeel positive for a little bit, which is sometimes all you need.

I'm sure it has, just like any other motivational speaker can inspire so many to do greater things with their lives.

He is a very impressive speaker, even as an atheist I can appreciate the message that he sends. Hasn't changed my life though.

No, I get nothing but boredom from him. All he do is stand there and grin like the Cheshire cat. All he "preaches" is happy, happy, happy. I heard him tell Larry King one time that he doesn't preach hell because people don't want to hear about hell. The people want to hear happy thoughts. I thought to myself, well, that is all fine and well doing, but hell is a real place and people are dying and going there everyday and need to know that.

His is a bit of cult of personality don't you think? He doesn't use the cross. He doesn't preach about sin. He instead preaches about prosperity and how being a Christian will make you rich.
