Have you tried earning some movie money? Ask your Mom what you can do around the house to do so. I am sure there are chores or tasks that can be done that she would appreciate enough to reward you for.
Life isn't a hand out - you need to learn to earn your way!

Excuse me, but who is PAYING for you to go to the movies? Are you hitting Mom up for money or do you have a job?
You have no realistic idea of what it takes to run a home these days and the cost of keeping a roof over your head and food on the table. Mom is not being mean or unfair. She's being realistic.
The cost of movies these days is outrageous. Why don't you find a way for the whole family to enjoy a movie night without having to fork out a mint?
Some theaters have discount times. You could offer to rent a DVD that the whole family can enjoy. Show your mom a little maturity in this issue and you might be surprised at what she is willing to let you do in exchange.
If you are old enough to work try finding a job and pay for your own entertainment, but also put something aside savings. Maybe even offer to buy groceries once in awhile. That's what I used to do when I was in high school. We weren't poor, but money was really tight. Mom was a widow trying to hold things together.
And you know what? The Simpsons movie didn't come out all that long ago.

You're not poor, cause your mom knows how/when to spend money. She's just being smart. Be a team player and support her decision. When you have money, the rewards are great.

Okay so wait on the rental , and your parents finances may not be up for discussion to a person who is not contributing to
the family budget. therefore not being poor does not mean you cannot be frugal.

sometimes we have to cut back and can't afford everything we want to do.
how do you know your parents aren't having financial problems right now? do you take care of their finances and budge their money?
maybe you could babysit to help pay for your own entertainment once in a while?

If it's your money, you have a say. If it's your parents, stop fighting them on it. "It's not fair" That they work hard for their money and you want to spend it on a trivial movie.

Respect your mothers decision. You don't know what the bills are, you don't know what she is going through financially. You probably want school clothes and supplies right, well stop trying to be spoiled and respect her.

You live at home, you live by their rules. Sorry, fair or not, that is the way it goes.
