And your belief system teaches that he is a creation of God and not equal, What do you think Jesus response to your unbelief would be?
Can you even go there to answer this question?

Blair...I need to give more info. I was raised a Jehovah's Witness...thus I was raised to believe that Jesus was a creation (an angel) of God...I have been shown scripturally, otherwise, thus the question....I had to look at the deity of Christ...I was wondering if others would even consider the consequences of not doing so.

Hannah...then why change John 1:1...I think it is easy to answer your scriptural questions of Christs position as an earthly man...He set aside his divinity, to come to earth.
Also..God making all things equal, one perfect MAN could not ransome an entire civilization of imperfect men....Yes Christ overpaid for our sins. but it was the only way.
Please continue in your scriptures and answer John 1:1..Thank you.

Neither I nor anyone else has ever been able to reconcile the teaching that Jesus is God Almighty with such scriptures as John 17:3; John 20:17; and Revelation 3:12 where Jesus himself refers to his father as God Almighty – and his God.
Neither I nor anyone else has ever been able to reconcile the teaching that Jesus is God Almighty with Hebrews 5:8 which shows that Jesus learned obedience. Since when has God ever had to learn obedience?
Neither I nor anyone else has ever been able to reconcile the teaching that Jesus is God Almighty with Luke 4:1-13 which shows that Jesus was tempted. James 1:13 plainly states that God cannot be tempted with evil things.
Neither I nor anyone else has ever been able to reconcile the teaching that Jesus is God Almighty with the scriptures which teach that it is impossible for God to die.
Neither I nor anyone else has ever been able to reconcile the teaching that Jesus is God Almighty with the scriptures which teach that it is impossible for God to violate His own justice. Yet this is precisely what he would have had to do if God Almighty died for humans. In the Mosaic law covenant we read of God's justice: eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. What did God mean? That if I cut off your foot, you are supposed to cut off mine? No. He meant that the price paid must always fit the crime. Even we pitiful humans recognize this. Men are not given the death penalty for stealing a loaf of bread. Women are not given as a ransom to buy back pet gerbils.
Do we get the sense of this? The Sovereign Lord God Jehovah of Armies – the Creator of the Universe, The Almighty One – is not going to sacrifice his life to ransom humans. The price is too high! That is a violation of His perfect justice. Even if it were possible for Yahweh to die, which it is not, He would not ransom himself. Why? Because the ransom is to buy back what is lost. God Almighty was not lost. A god was not lost. A divine being was not lost. Humans were lost. Thus, a perfect human was needed to provide the ransom. Thus, we read at Hebrews 9:24 that Christ entered into the heavens and appeared – where? Before the person of God!
"What about John 1:1", some say. "What about when Jesus says he and his father are one?" "What about when Jesus says if you have seen him you have seen the father?" "Yes!" some say, "how are we to understand these?" These must be understood in light of ALL OTHER SCRIPTURES that deal with God and not APART from them. No scripture is suffered to nullify another.
Jesus' response to my disbelief would, no doubt, be: "Hannah, I don't blame you."
Hannah J Paul
ADDITIONAL AS REQUESTED:
I know that a favorite verse of many is John 1:1. I am also aware that many feel Jehovah's Witnesses “changed” this verse to better accommodate what some feel is a belief system peculiar to Witnesses alone. May I say, though, that this is not true. An American Translation by Smith & Goodspeed (1935) reads: “the word was divine.” A New Translation of the Bible by Moffatt (1934) reads: “the Logos was divine.” And the NTIV (1808) reads “the word was a god.” If I may, I’d like to draw your attention to the publishing dates of these translations: 1935, 1934, and 1808, respectively. Manifestly, these translations predate the NWT by decades. How then, could the NWT have “changed” this scripture to fit its alleged peculiar doctrine when others have seen fit to do the same years before?
But even if that were not the case, Lamb, the validity of a doctrine does not pivot on one scripture. John 1:1 does not negate John 17:3, John 20:17 and Revelation 3:12 (not to mention a host of other scriptures) wherein Jesus clearly identifies his Father as the only true God and as HIS God.
You are certainly right when you say Jesus divested himself of his divinity – this is undisputed. But, Lamb, you and I share the same nature: humanity. Does that make you and me equal? No. Neither does Jesus sharing the same nature (divine) with God make Jesus equal to God and in fact God. There are many divine beings – their divinity does not make them God.
What shall we say of your contention that one perfect man could not possibly ransom an entire civilization of imperfect men? More importantly, what does God’s word say? At 2 Corinthians 5:19, God teaches us that he reconciled a WORLD by means of Christ. Sounds like a civilization, Lamb. Romans 5:19 teaches that through the disobedience of one man (Adam) many were constituted sinners; likewise THROUGH THE OBEDIENCE OF THE ONE (Jesus – the perfect man), manY will be constituted righteous. To say that God Almighty died because the human ransom he provided (Jesus) could not meet the need is to not only call God a liar, but nullifies His holy word. We do not have authority to do that, do we?
You are welcome. I hope this helps you.

What do you mean a creation of God and not equal??? Christianity teaches that God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit are really one entity. It is called the Holy Trinity. One God made up of three parts and Jesus and the Father are equal as is the Holy Spirit. You may want to do some research before you ask ill-informed questions.
Jesus as a Human may have not been equal, he could have made the decision to sin at any time while he was on this earth as he was tempted by Satan after fasting for 40 days, but he did not and therefore is the only man to live on this earth without sin. Just as the Father and Holy Spirit are without sin so is Jesus.

you want answer of John 1:1 look for septuagint and all greek bible and explain why they wrote in greek "God" and "god" both times written the first in capitlized letter and the second time with non capitalized? also "a" yes was added read the book Acts 28:6 in the greek text said that "paul was god" but in your translation says "a god" why the add the article "a" and not only there is a lot of places and didn´t apply that rule also in John 1:1? why to prove something they need to "invent" one whole verse 1 John 5:7 that in recent catholic bibles have been removed cause it was "false"?
come on silenced not because you don´t look at this information in wont become false. read it or not it is there, like or not it is there, ignore or not it is there, GO ON GO AT LOOK FOT IT AND IT IS A THEN COME AND TELL ME
also hundreds of verse from Genesis to Revelation show that Jesus is the first angel of God.

Jesus is God and knows why many do not believe. See Romans 9.
God chooses us and we do not choose Him. He softens the hearts of people for no one is good and no one seeks after Him ( Romans 3:10)
But He is indeed God! Only God can die for our sins, and only God can be raised again, only we can have salvation through Him, because He is the only SINLESS one- the one who bore no sins, so He shed His blood, and we who believe are saved in Him when we confess our sins to Him and repent- Believe He is Lord ( Romans 10)
John 1:1 says He is God- And Revelation 1:8
and John 10.

Jesus was very open in his earthly life. Most people saw Him as a miracle worker, healer, etc. He spent a great amount of time with people considered "sinners" by others, because they did not fully observe the rituals of their religion. Many of these "sinners" finally recognized Him as the savior, even when the religious people did not. We are not called to any belief system, although I have one. We are called to Him!
There are many Bibles available with commentary to help us study the New Testament, etc. I like the"Quest Study Bible" by Zondervan. Do you remember Jesus' response to Thomas' unbelief? He was not angry, but He called him to come and see for himself. The 1st chapter of the book of John deals with your belief system discussing who Jesus is.

I tend to agree with Reverend Soleil, that this question needs either some extra hint at sense, or have you known when things are what, because Jesus didn't say that, what did his father do next, and would you go too.

According to Christians, God existed long before Jesus was born and Jesus is God's son - he even prayed to his "Father" according to the bible. So I never understood why they claim Jesus is the same as God.
Then again, I'm not a Christian anymore so it doesn't really matter to me. What does confound me is how confusing, illogical, and contradictary Christians are (this is one of many examples).

I'm not sure that I understand your question, nor does it make sense in any belief system that I'm aware of.
But this really seems to be along the lines of Pascal's wager, in that you seem to be asking what if you belief the wrong thing and wouldn't it be a better bet to believe the "right" thing.

Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? Matt. 23:33
Fine question Unsilenced! Glad you're back!
