my daughter is also 17 months... she recently learned how to give kiss and hugs too!! i love her kisses. every night after she finishes her bath, she wants to see "the baby" in the mirror. so last night i said "want to see the baby in the mirror?" so i took her out of the tub and walked to the mirror. we both looked at our reflections. and then she leaned in gave me a big hug and a really big kiss! it was the sweetest thing ever... i love my sweetheart. i can't wait until i get off of work to pick her up from school.

YESS!!! Hugs are the best!!
Somehow, when I was a little girl, I got into the practise of giving 2 hugs to loved ones. One hug would be with my head on their left shoulder... then I'd say "other side" and then give the 2nd hug with my head on their right shoulder.
I was amazed that my 16 month old daughter started doing this on her own!!

My son tells me all the time that I am his "bestest friend" in the whole wide world. He is only 4! He also tells me he wants to marry me when he is older - have told him many times that is not possible, but he insists that he loves me that much! Can't wait to use that one against him when he is older!
But the best thing is that every night he wants me to just lay beside him and snuggle with him for a few minutes before bed and we play the "I love you this much" game (where you spread out your arms and say how much you love each other - there is a book about it) and he tries to spread his arms wider than mine - it is so cute.

The best thing my son (17 months as well) has given me is every morning when I leave for work (my parents watch him) he stands at the door and waves and says "bye-bye" until he can't see my car anymore.
When he first did it It made me sad, but now it uplifts my day. he also has started giving kisses. so far only at bedtime but they are the sweetest thing ever!

My son was in preK last year. Near the end of the year, they sang some songs for the parents. The place was packed and I didn’t know if I’d be able to see my son. At the last minute, one of my friends noticed I couldn’t see and she had me switch places with her mother. I had the best view. The sound of little children singing just makes my heart melt. Their voices are all high-pitched and they look like little angels. Their finale was a song with the chorus “I love you” and they did hand movements to the song. My son pointed at himself for “I”, crossed his arms over his heart for “love” and then he stretched out both hands and pointed at me. He threw his arms out with such gusto and he had the biggest smile. He looked at me the whole time he sang it and I was crying hopelessly. I was a blubbering mess. I’ll remember that for the rest of my life.

The best thing my son (2 1/2) has given me was that I wasn't feeling well this weekend and as I was laying on the couch he took his 2 blankets and told me I could have them as he proceeding to cover me up head to toe. It was so nice for him to try to take care of his mommy as I do for him when he doesn't feel good. It is funny how smart kids are because everything I do for him when he is sick is what he tried to do for me.

Last Mother's day my daughter painted a white flower pot and filled it w/ really pretty flowers (w/ daddies help). She also made a card w/ construction paper and drew pictures on it. It made my heart melt! She was 3 at the time.
