What happened to the universal teaching of loving our neighbors?

This was the first thought striking to my head while watching the two video footages below.

As I was witnessing the stylized murdering of two tribes of the human kind, I realized nothing but a sad destiny of the humans that are to kill their neighbors.

As the sun had rose and downed yesterday, it will rise again tomorrow.
The killing had happened yesterday, and it will happen again tomorrow.

Can we all just meet each other face to face, and say, “stop!” at one point? I am afraid not, and this is what makes me feel dark.

The two video footages I am about to show will bring you to the view point of the each sides- one from the insurgents’ side, and the other from the American side.

Those videos sensitively cry out to us how humans can be cold to each other.

The footages have some violent war images, and I recommend only to the mature viewers.

I would like to hear you comment. Please leave any messages, and feel free to open up any kind of discussions.

Thank you for reading.

I have seen videos like this before and each time it brings me to tears. It doesn't matter which "side" video I see... These are human lives that are being taken.
My husband is at this moment serving our country in Iraq. It "breaks my heart" that right now that is my husbands life. It breaks my heart that it is so many brave men and women's lives. It breaks my heart that we are even there. Politics aside...beliefs aside..these are all human beings killing each other. Each side fighting for there lives..whether we agree or disagree on which side is "right"
In a perfect world, we would all be able to live side by side overlooking our differences. We would be able to embrace our differences. This is not a perfect world and as long as humans are on this planet it will never be. There will continue to be oppression from one "side" or another.
I will continue to pray that my husband and his brothers and sisters come home safe.
Proud Army Wife!! HOOAH!!

1. There is no "Universal" teaching as such. After all, the Koran does direct the killing of "infidels" does it not? The Old Testiment tells of God directing genocide in the Holy Land to make room for the Hebrews. Looking at religions past & present shows that teaching "love" is actually rare.

2. The question seems to assume that humans are above the animals since we choose to make war. Yet, there is both inter and intra-species war, murder, theft and rape throughout nature. Have you seen a battle between ant colonies? Invasions by Japanese wasps of bee hives? Murder and rape by chimps and other primates? While some would say that it's a small scale compared to what humans do, the one murder in a chimp tribe of say, twenty would effectively eliminate 10% of the tribe because they would lose one member to death and either banish or kill the murderer.

3. As in nature, humans would rather live peacefully and yet there is a small percentage that craves what others have. When threatened, it is natural for one to in turn to resort to violence. The problem with some humans is that their fear of the attacker leads them attack the defenders of the society.

4. In nature, we are at the top of the food chain. We have no predators other than ourselves. Perhaps war is Nature's way of keeping down the population.

5. The only way to have Universal Peace (that is, on Earth) is for the entire planet to be under one government, worship the same gods, become the same race and believe the same things. Now tell me, are you willing do to that?

Sometimes I think the best we can do as individuals is to nurture love for each other in our own hearts and try to pass it along to others. No doubt this would be especially difficult when dealing with anyone who might be determined to kill you. IMHO blowing oneself up for Allah isn't really martyrdom at all. Loving someone who's killing you is. If all humans could embrace that kind of love, there would be peace. I think maybe, someday if our species can survive long enough we might achieve that kind of love. Almost certainly not within my lifetime.

There are no universal teachings. Each culture is different. Some cultures teach that, but not all teach that. Some teach that are superior to all others. Some teach to not trust thier neighbors. Some teach to hate thier neighbor. Some teach that their neighbors are not even human.

As long as there are people who will not rest until they've killed all Americans, Christians, and Jews, there cannot be peace.
