Is she in labor????????

Question

There is a stray cat across the street from me and right now she is sleeping outside under my porch. She is I think expecting because her belly feels like a balloon and her nipples are a darkish lightish pink. What are the signs when she is in labor???? Help me!!! My questions are

1 is she pregnant

2 what are the signs of labor

As aero-smith said she will lick herself a lot. well she already does. She cleans herself and licks her privates constantly for the past weekend so does that mean she is in labor?????

"Labor" for a cat doesn't last very long at all. She will look for a safe place to have her kittens (a place away from predators), then she will lie down and have her kittens. That is all there is to it. The nipples do not change color when a cat is pregnant or giving birth.

I'd just leave her alone, it is impossible to say when she'll have her kittens. If you want to take her in, you can get a box with an old towel or blanket in it and put it where she can get in it. They like to give birth under or behind furniture, or other large objects where they feel the kittens will be safe.

Please, please if you do "adopt" her, take her to the vet a week or so after she has her kittens and have her spayed.

Usually right before she goes into labor she will find a nice cozy place to have her kittens and then she will meow really loud when she is having contractions and giving birth. Good luck.

If she starts to try and "nest"- make a bed and her breathing becomes "weird"- also she will have some discharge from her privates.

If her belly is tight, and she obviously has nipples, yeh, she's pregnant....If she starts meowing loud long meows and tries to nest by shredding paper or whatever is near her, yeh, then she's ready to have her babies.... :)
