My husband and i are pregnant with twins, we don't know the genders. My husband likes traditional, biblical names [he is a pastor] and i like more unique, new-age names. We are having trouble agreeing on names.
p.s. we dont like "twin" names [names that sound alike]

Why don't you give them each a traditional first name and a more unique middle name? Or vice versa?

Make a deal before you know the sex - if they're girls give them more unique names and if they're boys stick with the traditional ones. I think girls fare better with different names.

Names I like:

For girls - Autumn, Erin, Gabrielle

For boys - Colin, Andrew, Devin

I've never been a fan of naming kids after a parent (Jr or "the third") but looking back on your ancestors names might give some ideas. Or perhaps using some of the traditional names with a more unique spelling - though that is overdone at times - maybe something like boy -Jakob, Marq, Luc; girl- Saira, Abby, Lisabeth

We went with names that would be good shortened for casual things/jobs/environments & ones that could be good left as is for more formal jobs/environments. We allow them to be called whatever form of their name they choose & so far they've been happy with the variety. Dh & I both have names that can't be shortened & I've always kind of wished for a more formal sounding name that I could shorten if I wanted. :-)

You can go with nice biblical names...some off them are more unique like you like...but maybe dh would like those, too, since they're traditional in one sense.

At our church we have a Micah, a Caleb, Elijah, Nehemiah, etc. The Bible is a great resource for names...there are some really awful names in there (Nimrod comes to mind) but there are also some really cool ones that are also unique.

Btw, I don't like the twin names either...I went to school with a Merlene & Sherlene...a Lonnie & Ronnie, etc.
