if not, then why won't you try someone else's holidays? wouldn't this be open minded of you, and help dispell the stereotype of the closed minded christian fundie?

and this doesn't have to relate only to halloween, what about a muslim celebration, or jewish, or anything different? it also might help you understand the religions better and realize that they're not evil.

Non-Christian answering here.

What I don't get is this...
Some Christians believe that Halloween is evil, yet they celebrate Christmas with trees, carols, feasts, and the like. These are all Pagan traditions, so why the hypocrisy? I don't get it.

Halloween isn't evil, it's not even a holiday. It's a tradition handed down from Medieval Europe, and the original meaning has faded, for the most part. Now'days, it's all about fake ghosts, fake goblins, costumes, candy, kids and fun. Pretty much, that's as deep as it gets. Why would these Christians fear Halloween, yet embrace a Xmas tree and Yule log? It's all just fun.

Why would a Christian celebrate halloween??

it is a pagan mockery of the Day of Reformation? The day Martin Luther nailed the 95 thesis to the church door... The next day is all Saints Day...remembering the martyrs who have died for the Christian faith....

Christmas...we do not know when Christ Birthday is .....

we have always done it as a small birthday celebration for the Christ child.....have the nativity and the journey ....

detest the commercialism of the whole thing....

we do the Resurrection celebration....have a small resurrection tree with colored yarn to represent the stripes of Christ, Bible verses of promises on little pieces of paper tied with yarn, a small grape vine fashioned as the crown of thorns for the tree top, nickels representing the silver, a small cup and crust of bread....we make sugar cookies with cinnamon crosses on them...

I did this with my children who are adults now... we never did understand the whole rabbit and egg thing

we watched the Biblical Drama movies and this helped in explaining the Jewish holidays, like passover, etc....

I have watched programs on TV about other religions and their practices....TV does give a strange view of things....

Fire walking, sticking skewers into body parts, walking for miles and miles to wash in a dirty river, voodoo, etc. etc, I just don't think so.....

my husband is native American Indian ancestry , neither one of us is interested in practicing the Sun Dance.....

Chrisitans are not close minded...it is common sense.....and the Ten Commandments come into play also...

What holidays do Christians have that all God's children can not join into??

I use to be wiccan, so I understand why halloween is not a good holiday for a born a again christian to be practising, my experience as a wiccan was not good. We also have jewish people in our christain chruch who help us understand what the passover means ect. I was in the Army, I saw first ahnd how women are treated in a muslim country.
I also use to be atheist.

I don't celebrate Halloween or Christmas or any other holiday that has origins that I don't agree with - but I understand that it's a personal decision.

A celebration is something which you engage in with your heart.

God tells his people to circumcise themselves unto him.

Jeremiah 4:4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

Deuteronomy 30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

No it doesn't.......

It bothers me more when a Christian celebrates halloween though......halloween is evil

The fact that atheists celebrate Christmas is a good thing....
At least they're being exposed to the true meaning of Christ's birth without fully knowing it
