Both. It is a means of control and it provides freedom as long as you live within the boundaries of the religion. :)

For some use the church to control them from their bad habits or sinning, but the real freedom is knowing Jesus Christ and doing his will.

Religion actually helps. I mean honestly think about it. What the hell would this world be like if it wasn't for religion and morals.

It would be much worse than it is now. Religion has always helped me in a way. Nobody would have any faith or anything to look forward to just life and death and that's it forever.

The world would be a terrible place, even worse than it is now.
