Everywhere around me good people are struggling with finances, relationships, work, family, and life in general.

We are people that believe in God and try to live righteously to the best of our abilities.

Meanwhile, people who are theves, liars, murderers, cheats, and crooks seem to prosper without any recourse.

Not at all.

It rains on the righteous and the wicked alike.

It's called "life".

And it's exactly the sort of universe you would expect if there was no loving, benevolent god running things.

If you are a Christian person, then rejoice (Matthew 5:11-12). Also, get used to it (John 16:33). Trouble was one of the few things Christ assured every believer that they would experience in this life.

If you are of another faith, you have almost assuredly been taught the same thing. Rest in your faith.

If you are a non-specific moral person, then I'm not sure I understand you completely, but take a rational look at the situation and you will see that all is not as it appears.

If you want to know why specific people are facing specific troubles, then I can't help much. I could throw you some generalizations like "struggle builds faith" and "trials help us to become more like Christ", but they don't help a lot when you find yourself under fire or in the middle of a hurricane or a layoff. I can say, though, that the unjust face the same bullets, winds, and pink slips as anyone else. They have a different mechanism for dealing with them (shoot first, loot the local Wal-Mart, steal from the company before you get fired) so they appear to be taking advantage of circumstances rather than falling victim to them. But it catches up with them in the end.

First, according to the Bible "no one is righteous, not one". So to say "good" people is wrong. Everyone sins, some maybe less than others, but all people sin. Second, let's say you live as righteous a life as you can, God never promised His followers they would be free from strife, or tragedy. He promises an eternal life in fellowship with Him after this life has ended. Whatever happens in this life, doesn't compare with the eternal life in Heaven. Third, justice belongs to God, those that live a life of sin, will have to stand before God. Stop complaining about who bad things happen to, and live your life for the coming Kingdom of Heaven. Spend your time learning more about God and having a personal relationship. That will help you cope with anything life throws at you. God doesn't promise to take us out of this harrowing maze, He just has the best map.

Well, these 'bad things' make us all stronger. Remember, it's the weak and humble that will see God.

I think it's because the thieves, liars, murderers, cheats, and crooks keep doing bad things to keep bad things from happening to them. Example: Thieves don't struggle financially, they just rob more money.

Like someone above said...It's just life. One has to make the best decisions they can in order to survive. Keep your head up. Even bad times do pass (I hope).

Ya know, I have thought about this so much but I have realized that life is not about this life, it is about our next life. This life is hardly a blip in the grand scheme of God's eternity. We should continue to work toward being a better Christian and for our eternal reward. These Christians that you speak of will live forever in the kingdom of God and have riches far greater than we will ever know here on earth. While the thugs who do not live for God here on earth will be in Hell, we Christians who have lived the hard earthly life, will be in paradise. Try to think on that. Keep living for God and live for your rewards in Heaven.

If you believe in God, then you know that the reward isn't necessarily something we see in this lifetime.

Life is like a tapestry that we can only see from underneath. It looks like crap to us, but from above, it's beautiful, and everything makes sense.

I've had a few things happen. It's best to accept them, and not hold onto things. Letting go of these worries is difficult, but is very good for the soul.

Yeah, okay, everyone who is bad gets away with everything, nothing bad ever happens to them, ever.(Sarcasm off) I don't remember the last time I saw a true man of God on death row. Or an honest man behind bars.

>>without any recourse<<

All life is momentary. It may seem that certain people are prospering, but with hardend hearts...are they really prospering?

Of course the devil will hit you were it hurts, but blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

This life sucks and is a test from ALLAH(SWT). The good people suffer in this world but will Insha ALAH get their reward on the day of Judgment. The bad people will get everything they want but will burn in Jahannam Insha ALLAH.
