Never heard of anyone having to take that much Prozac. I sincerely was told I was taking the highest dosage of 3 20mg. Call the pharmacy you use and ask them. I hope you see a psychiatrist and not a general physician. I do not understand why they have you taking 2 antidepressants. Best wishes.

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
If you miss a dose of Prozac Weekly, take the missed dose as soon as you remember and take the next dose 7 days later. However, if it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled weekly dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

This is a report I have ran across on the web as I take Effexor every day and I know it works for me.
Effexor More Effective Than Prozac In Achieving Remission In Depression
WHEAT RIDGE, CO -- February 10, 2000 -- Effexor® XR (venlafaxine HCl) Extended-Release Capsules have been shown to relieve the symptoms of depression and produce full remission of the disease in more patients than Prozac® (fluoxetine HCl), according to data from an eight week trial published today in the Journal of Affective Disorders.
"The study is one of the first trials to demonstrate that the benefits of one antidepressant exceed that of another in treating an outpatient population with major depression," said Alan D. Feiger, M.D., President, Feiger Health Research Center, Wheat Ridge Colorado. "These data clearly indicate that Effexor XR has improved efficacy over one of the more commonly prescribed antidepressants in the short-term treatment of major depression. Therefore, Effexor XR should be considered one of the first-line treatments in patients with depression."
The double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial involved 301 patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Patients were treated with either a daily dose of 75 to 225 milligrams (mg) of Effexor XR, 20 to 60 mg of Prozac, or placebo. Treatment efficacy was measured using several psychiatric measures, including the Hamilton Psychiatric Rating Scale for Depression (HAM-D), the Montgomery-Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), and the Clinical Global Impressions (CGI) scale, all of which measure changes in symptoms.
Results showed that at the end of the 8-week trial, approximately twice as many patients treated with Effexor® XR experienced full remission, based on the HAM-D score, compared with those treated with Prozac or placebo (37 percent versus 22 percent and 18 percent, respectively, p less than or equal to 0.05). In addition, when compared with patients treated with Prozac or placebo, more patients treated with Effexor XR demonstrated symptomatic improvements, based on the total MADRS score (58 percent versus 51 percent and 39 percent, respectively) and the CGI improvement score (71 percent versus 62 percent and 52 percent, respectively).
"While Prozac and Effexor XR can help reduce depression symptoms, the real challenge is finding a treatment that can help patients feel well so they can return to their normal lives. These data show that Effexor XR is an important option because it provides both symptomatic improvement and helps patients achieve full remission, thereby getting them well," Dr. Feiger said. "We are interested to see these results replicated over the long term."
Overall, 6 percent and 9 percent of patients treated with Effexor XR and Prozac, respectively, discontinued therapy due to adverse side effects. The most common side effects among patients treated with Effexor XR were nausea and dizziness. The most common side effects among patients treated with Prozac were nausea and diarrhea.
Clinical depression is a serious chronic condition that affects as many as 20 million American adults each year, costing nearly $44 billion in lost work productivity, medical expenses, and depression-related suicide. At some point in their lives, up to 25 percent of women and 12 percent of men suffer from depression. Most patients diagnosed with depression also exhibit one or more symptoms of anxiety. Often, these patients are more difficult to treat and are more likely to seek medical treatment than patients with either depression or anxiety alone.
Effexor® XR, a once-daily formulation of the antidepressant Effexor® (venlafaxine HCl), received U.S. Food and Drug Administration market clearance for the treatment of depression in 1997, and market clearance for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in 1999. Effexor® XR is the only antidepressant currently indicated to treat depression and GAD. Unlike SSRIs (e.g., Prozac), which selectively inhibit the reuptake of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain, Effexor XR inhibits the reuptake of both serotonin and norepinephrine.
