To import a YouTube video into Windows Movie Maker, you'll first of all need to convert it. One way of doing this is to copy the url of the YouTube video into top box of the following website: http://vixy.net

You'll then need to convert it into a format that Windows Movie Maker understands. By the way, Movie Maker will allow .avi files. What you need to do is click on the hyperlink that says 'Import video' and find the file on your hard drive.

There are alternative ways to download YouTube videos, which is what I prefer to do. I use Mozilla Firefox with an add-on called Ook? Video Ook! This allows me to play the YouTube videos, which are Flash Video (.flv) files using a program such as Videolan VLC Media Player. That's an excellent Media Player as it'll play virtually any movie file (and others) without the need to download extra codecs.
