i don't know how it started but our cats love to be spanked and i'm saying paddled pretty vigorously! we even use fly swatter and a paint stir stick.. they flop and roll and keep comming for more. they love it

I have 5 cats, 2 are boys. Both the boys love it when i "spank" them. I only use my hand but they love it. If I stop my biggest boy just looks at me and meows, flops down, rolls over, and keeps acting so silly untill I either spank him more or walk away. Both of the boys run thru the house after a spanking, and usually chase each other playfully. I guess this is not as strange as I thought.

Two of our five do! It's hilarious.
For those who don't know about 'spanking' (we call it thump a cat), you use your open hand and lightly thump it broadside to their sides, not on bone. It's like patting your thighs with your palms, but a little harder.
There's some GREAT video over on YouTube of this, a cat on a cat tree being spanked with ping pong paddles and loving it, plus a calico cat at a humane society being spanked while on the lap of one of the people there (she's really funny).
It doesn't hurt the cat, if they like it they usually love it being done. You have to be sure not to get too close to actual bone on the spine, shoulders or leg, so it feels comfortable.

Yep my tuxedo boy just loves to be spanked lol its soo funny you can spank him til he falls over!

I pat both of my cats on the rump, on the side, and they love it, I pat pretty hard, and they stand there like "C'mon mommy!" They like it!
