I am 26, male and do a lot of exercise (kickboxing, swimming and walking). I am in good shape and probably underweight if anything however my diet is absolutely terrible.

For breakfast I always eat toast with loads of butter and jam, at lunch I sometimes eat a cheese and pickle sandwich (and think that is healthy) but for the most part I eat MacDonalds or chips and wash it down with a can of coke and some crisps.

I often eat a chocolate bar in the afternoon.

For dinner I regularly go to the chippy or have chinese. At the weekends I always eat fry ups and bacon rolls.

I probably eat one portion of fruit OR vegetables a day on average.

I also binge drink and smoke about 40 a week.

What is likely to happen to me in later life if I carry on this way?

Some people are lucky and others arent, so on one can predict your out come oater in life. But look at your family, does anyone have diabetes, heart problems, circulatory problems etc you may be skinny now, but you will undoubtedly end up with a beer belly later in life and that fat carried in the stomach area releases chemicals that can cause heart attacks and strokes. No one is perfect, Im a student nurse and know exaclty what your kind of diet does to people but I still have the odd chinese take out and I binge drink and i smoke! Im nto saying its right, but its your body, and you have to die of something so you may as well die happy!!

Low Carb Dieting Tip
Your rate of metabolism dictates how many calories you burn. Heredity, gender, age, body size. diet and nutrition, activity level, and your overall health factor in on determining how high or low your metabolism is. It is normal for metabolism levels to lower as a person ages. Because of this it is important to begin stepping up your exercise routines in your thirties and forties.

Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

Eat Regularly - Eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day will give you energy throughout the day--helping you to burn calories. Whereas, calories eaten during larger meals tend to get stored as fat.
Maintain a Balanced Diet - Not only how often you eat is important, but your food choices are equally as important. Nurture you body with the appropriate balance of protein and carbs.

Eating whole foods rather than processed food gives your digestive system a workout that burns calories. For example: choose an apple over apple juice.
Workout with Weights - Building muscle mass will replace stored fat. As you build muscle tissue your metabolism increases.
Don't Forget Cardio - You need to get that heart rate up and breathe a little heavier. Twenty to thirty minutes of cardiovascular activity 5 days a week is recommended. Brisk walking or swimming are good. Or utilize exercise equipment (exercise bike, treadmill, or elliptical trainer)
Fruits and vegetables are clearly an important part of a good diet. Almost everyone can benefit from eating more of them, but variety is as important as quantity. No single fruit or vegetable provides all of the nutrients you need to be healthy. The key lies in the variety of different fruits and vegetables that you eat.
Some basic fruit and vegetable tips:
• Try to eat more fruits and vegetables. If you need 2,000 calories a day to maintain your weight and health, aim for at least nine servings (4½ cups) a day.
• Choose a variety of different fruits and vegetables. It's easy to get into a rut when it comes to the food you eat. Break out and try a wider variety - include dark-green, leafy vegetables; yellow, orange, and red fruits and vegetables; cooked tomatoes; and citrus fruits.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.
Luckly there is a cure for herpes https://tr.im/ca59a

The fact that you do excerise and are asking this question suggests that you care about your health. Why don't you try making a smoothie for breakfast with fresh fruit yoghurt and some honey. Switch your cheese sandwich for a a ham sandwich or salad sandwich in brown bread. Try to up your intake of water and maybe cut sugar out of your tea. I used to love sugar in my tea but I can drink it without now. Maybe try and limit fast food to just once a week as a treat - or watch that film supersize me - that'll put you off it altogether

There seems to be a struggle going on in you--part of you takes good care of your body (kickboxing, etc.)--the other half is destroying you!

Sounds to me like you need some help, some tools to work this out. I suggest you seek out a good counselor to discuss this to see what the root of it is, then you can deal with it and move on to a healthier lifestyle.

There comes a time to be mature, to put down the immature mental attitude from high school and become a man. Perhaps this is as good a time as any, don't you think?

I don't think that a healthy diet guarantees good health as I believe there are other factors involved such as genetics and exercise.

You may be fine- however, if your family has a history of heart problems, high cholesterol or cancer, then eating more fruit and veg may help prevent you from these illnesses. Take Kylie Minogue(bless her)- she had a good lifestyle but unfortunately ended up with cancer.

I believe stress is one of the biggest killers.

Obviously if you eat healthily it's only a good thing.

you sound like me!! just cut back on take aways in the week and only have them at weekends & only have fry ups at weekends. Ditch Mcd's al together (very hard) or once every few weeks. You will probably find the better you eat the more you will bulk up and get some muscle.

You will be fine but try and cut back

I have a friend who has never eaten any vegetables all his life and he is as healthy if not healthier than loads of other people his age. Don't believe all the hype about what is good for you and what is not. I smoked but i still exercised, swam and jogged every day and it never worried me, maybe in later years but i am not too worried.
