I'm not around anyone who does at all anytime. I wash my hair and switched shampoos and it still smells like cigarette smoke.

The lady who answered above about straighteners is correct. They can definitely create a lasting odour similar to cigarette smoke, no scorching needs to occur.
It can also happen with curling or styling tongs.
The culprit I believe is the type of heating plate, like metal or ceramic. Try a different one and see if that is better for your hair type.

Good luck.

Do you use any dandruff shampoos such as Selsun Blue? Or a new hair product you are using----Some times flat iron could burn your hair if kept in the same spot for a longer time than usual.

Febreeze and vacum the house. And shampoo your hair before leaving the house. Wash your clothes and keep them in a drawer to keep the smell away. Wear perfume.

I think it's your imagination.......unless you sleep walk into sleezy, smoke filled bars. I would ask a freind to smell your hair and get her respones but don't tell her what you THINK you smell. See what your friend says. If your friend smells smoke, I think you sleepwalk.

you probably straighten your hair, dont you?
i do too, straighteners can make your hair smell like smoke, so try something different to protect your hair from the straightener.
