I love halloween as well!
And being as though Halloween happens to also be "Witches' New Year", or as in my case, Samhain, I enjoy the time to let my hair down.
As for the begging kids- that's sad. That's one of my favorite parts of Halloween. Each year I decorate our estate as a Haunted House, and everyone loves it. We have lots of volunteers to jump out and scare everybody, and I'm always on the lookout for new things to buy to make it even better. (And, if they make it that far, the kids get rewarded at the steps with the good candy... no boxes of raisins at my house!) :p
*Edit: As a modern-day Wiccan, I cannot believe that the above narrow-minded way of thinking still exists today... labeling halloween as "Satanic", when what they are referring to is Samhain- practiced by the Pagans of old and modern-day Wiccans who do not even believe in the existance of such a figure as Satan- just shows how stupid these people really are.

Too much candy. Not great for a dude on a diet! ;-)
I used to like doing the trick or treat thing but now that I am older I rather just go to a party or something.
Religion-wise - I have no issues with Halloween. I like all of the holidays. Even my very own christian holidays are mixed with pagan traditions so why not?

If there have been infants in contact sure. certainly, i might think of it may well be extra solid for the Ex to make certain me with him than any incorrect way around. i'm a sufferer of having to goto 6 different Christmas dinners because of fact no person could be interior the comparable room together. this is ridiculous...and could make the trip trips UNfun.

I love Halloween, I used to dress up as one of the Baseball Furies from The Warriors (I wish I still could but people give me weird looks when they see a 25 year old Trick or Treating with a bunch of kids).

You'd think my kids would live for Christmas, but as a family we have always enjoyed Halloween the most.
We pull out all the stops and weave spider webs in the trees, and then place large spiders and their prey in them. We set up a cemetery in my yard, with the graves belonging to Michael Myers, Jason Vorhees, Freddy Krueger, etc. On Freddy's grave we place finger-knives reaching up through the soil.
There are demonic scarecrows throughout my yard, skeletons standing alongside corn shocks and hiding behind bushes, etc. It's a blast, but it takes weeks to do all this.
I make the boy's costumes, and normally they are zombies. Over the years we've learned to make realistic-looking amputated limbs, which are quite gross. They love walking around with an arm missing, with gristle hanging from the wound. I use prosthetics to make it appear as though their eyes have been punctured by glass, their throats have been slashed, or they have suffered gunshot wounds.
I even send them to the school Harvest dances looking like this, and it never fails that they win first prize for scariest costume. The prizes are always movie tickets, and the theaters in our area shows scary movies on Halloween night. Rather than go trick-or-treating, we head to the theater, all of us in costume, ready to enjoy some horror flicks.
I suppose we go overboard, but it's more fun than you can possibly imagine and allows us to bring out our creative sides.

I'm a Christian AND I LOVE HALLOWEEN! It's just a lot of fun. My daughter has a big sleepover for Halloween and I make all kinds of spooky treats and snacks. It's just a good time. It's one of my favorite Holidays.

you know... i don't understand why christians would hate Halloween, even if for religious reasons. it's not like christians adopted the holiday themselves because they thought it looked fun. the christian church itself started halloween as a modification of all hallow's eve to satisfy the pagans they were converting by force. therefore, it is a christian holiday, called all saints day, and is introduced to the world for christians to celebrate saints.
but for me, it's the day i get to dress how i wish i always could, since i'm not allowed to do anything with myself i want to :/

Oh I'm with you, I LOVE Halloween too! My weird mother-in-law tries to get me not to take the kids out for Halloween because she says it's the devil's holiday but my husband tells me to ignore her, she watches too much TBN.
Yes, it's pagan in origin but, so? So is Christmas and Easter and the Christian religion itself also has pagan origins so that argument never made sense to me.

I usually do the Trick part of Halloween. I love scaring the kids. In all fairness, they like it too. It glorifies evil? You have got to be kidding me! I love the costumes and giving out candy. I make sure I get dressed up myself.

humm Sorry, I love it too! But I am sad to see that some of the old traditions, like trick-or-treating, seem to be getting less common. I guess people don't trust their neighbors as much as before. Also there are a lot of immigrants in the area who just don't know the traditions enough to follow them. For example, if your porch light is out it means don't trick-or-treat at my house.
