how to change the column number to alphabet? i want the cell 'R1C1' change to 'A1'. please advice!

sorry i think my question is not so clear. I meant I had my columns number with alphebet (A, B, C....like most of the excel worksheet do), i don't know why it change to numbers (1, 2, 3...) now, how to set the columns number back to alphebet?

You don't need to do anything as far as naming. It's just that one of your options in Excel is not set to the normal default.

Go to:

Tools > Options...

Then go to the General tab in the window that pops up. Under the Settings group remove the checkmark for R1C1 reference style, then click OK.

After you do that, you should be set.

To name a cell, click on the cell whose name you want to change, and then in the toolbar at the top, you'll see a box (by default, the box is probably just to the left of the "formula box". It's called a namebox. It's a white box, that shows the name of the cell you have selected. If you put your mouse over it, it will say "name box". Click in there, and you can name the cell or range of cells to anything you like.

You cannot change the column headings to anything other than the letters they already are. But if you use this name box, you can reference the cell by whatever name you give it.
