Is it possible to amend my tx return fro2005- to change
filing status from joint filer to filing seperately.
This is just to see if a spouse can get rid of any
taxes due to other spouse

No you can not amend a MFJ return to file MFS. If the situation is in question in the future you can file MFS if it was to your advantage. After filing MFS you do have the opportunity to amend from MFS to MFJ.

No, you can't amend a return from joint to separate. You can amend from two separate returns to joint, but can't go the other way.

You might be able to file an injured spouse form for that year, and still get your share of the refund if the debt that it's being taken for is in your spouse's name only.

You can file your ammended return and ammend anything that is within reason and this is. However you will have to have the ammended return signed by both filers.
