My kitten is about 10 weeks old. She is completely litter box trained and always uses it. There's one exception though... she keeps peeing on my bed. My bedroom is the first place she was introduced to when we took her home and she usually sleeps on my bed on next to it. She is able to easily get off the bed and go to the litter box which is located in the corner of my room. But she continues to make the decision to pee on my bed instead. I'm wondering if it is just a coincidence that every accident she has had has been in the same place or if I have done something to make her think it is okay. I'm not upset with her peeing on my bed (because I know most kittens have accidents) so much as I am worried that she'll make it a habit that will be hard to break in the future. What should I do? Or will she grow out of this? thanks for any info you can give me!

Thoroughly clean the area so it no longer smells, and place another cat box right on your bed, where she 'goes'.

When you see her sniffing around to pee anywhere besides her box pick her up and put her in box.

Let her know that's unacceptable.

If her box she's supposed to use has a cover, remove it.
If you are using a different litter than she's used to, get the old one.

There is a litter called "cat-attract" that worked for me.
Also, small kittens have small bladders- put more boxes around until she's older.

Bad habits need to be corrected immediately.

you might have to get rid of the bedding, because she may be smelling the same spot, even though you can't.

also maybe you can put a large sheet of plastic on the bed to cover the entire thing (like a paint tarp?) to protect your bedding.

i don't know if this would be a behavioral problem or if she still thinks she can pee there because of scent?

if all else fails, maybe call the vet.

i hope it works out. take care.

Your kitten smells the urine on the bed and thinks it is a place to go. You may have to get new bedding if you can't get the smell out by just washing it.
