The NSA uses these all the time. They are called key stroke recognition programs. There are varying degrees of access... but what gets me about your question is the 'for free' part.

I thinking I'm getting really tired of everyone thinking they can have all this potentially damaging stuff for free, with no consequences.

Yes, it's called "Windows". Seriously, anyone can allow "Remote Desktop" from within "Windows Firewall". Then you use "Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection" to make the connection. The last trick is you must have a valid login to the computer in question.
Any other way is using added software which must be loaded at the client, either with permission or malciously.
