...then does that not make that man, he who fooled generations and generations of people into believing his ideals and worshiping his creation...is not that man God? Would that not make him God?

I get what you mean. Maybe, because if this person says that "God" wants something to happen, everyone would do it because he/she said "God" wanted it. You know what I mean? On the other hand maybe not because people think that "God" makes things happen, (like meeting someone or saving them from an accident) when in fact this man/woman did nothing at all. I hope i'm not confusing anyone. Personally, I believe in "God" to a certain extinct. No one really wants us to question it.... just believe, and thats b/s. I guess, to live, people really need to have faith and believe in something and they choose to believe in something they've been told their whole lives.

Do you know of any man who can create Universes, design people and animals, build mountains, fill oceans, maintain minute by minute the balance of life? We are of God but in this primitive physical existence which is life on Earth, we are sadly lacking in God like qualities. If religion truly is the mind of God we are all in trouble.

You can call anything god if you change the definition of what god is. Using the currently generally accepted definition, nothing will make man a god.

Actually, I think it's a great question. It's definately a possibility that God does not exist and if you think about it, if this statement were true, then yes this man in "our eyes" would be considered God but then again, to him he would not be because again, God does not exist...in this statement...

very good question, but I disagree for that would not make the first man who invented it a god, simply a fool of the rest of humanity.

No, that would not make that man or men god(s). Fooling generations is not a requirement, nor a qualification of a deity.

No, the word 'God' doesn't refer to the boss or the person who came up with the idea.

The word 'God' means an omnipotent (can do anything) and omniscient (knows everything) being. Since man is not able to do everything and know everything...he is not God.

God is a story, reshaped and retold by countless men (and women) spreading across thousands of years and thousands of cultures. A story is all it is, and if being a storyteller qualifies one as being God, then get on your knees and worship J.K. Rowling.

YO Why would a lie last so long???

Would it not fade out like the rest of the other religions of the past that started so long ago. Fiction and lies always get changed around and lose their luster.

The truth never dies!

Just because someone gets someone else to believe the drivel they are preaching doesn't make them god, it just makes them smart.
