a ghost is normally depicted as something that haunts people or places and therefore gives off a feeling of fear. The dictionary defines a ghost as "The Spirit or semblance of a dead person, believed to visit or haunt living people". Not very pleasant sounding, we know, but don't you remember as a child you would have been afraid of ghosts because it was always 'ghost stories' you heard, never 'spirit stories'
Spirit on the other hand, in general, are much more subtle in their approach. You may get the shivers or feel very hot as one draws near. You may feel tingles, as if someone is touching your arm, hand or shoulders for example. They can be mischievous, but never harmful. They too will try different ways of getting our attention, but not normally anything that makes us feel uneasy. Another example (and this happens to most people we know) is that things will go missing and miraculously reappear again a few days later. Usually a very good sign that spirit are around!

Ghosts are earthbound humans who have died. Some ghosts are unpleasant and angry, but most are just scared and confused as they either do not understand that they are dead, or they are afraid to move on due to fear-based religious teachings that they adhered to during life.
Spirits are non-physical beings that were never necessarily material. They range from benevolent, trickster, and neutral, to malevolent it depends on the order of being that it is.
A ghost could be considered a spirit, however spirits are definitely not necessarily ghosts - most aren't actually.

I agree with Jason but there are 4 types of haunting: Residual, intelligent, entity and poltergiest. All fit the desprition of demons being disguised as ghosts exept "Residual" like the battle of Gettysburg war where lots of people died. So much psychic energy there brought on by an emotion death... left a paradox a type of time loop repeating almost the same events over and over again with the same out come. A place where the space-time continuem is shattered... its frozen at that time speeds up the haunt then back to normal. Science can explain that there is a creator even philosophy can but the bible only talks of demons and not ghosts. Psychical Science is the theoretical study of the paranormal not proven fact or false but a theory. Science is always right and so is God. Science is the search for fact, Philosophy is the search for truth, metaphysics is the search for the meaning of existence and religion is the search for belief. What if god was an ascended Alien the most powerful being in the universe? Would he still be the one true God.... of course. You are right but you could also be wrong we know all we know about God through the Bible but not all there is to know about science quite yet. You need faith in God but you also need not just knowledge but the understanding of science to it. I am a Gnostic Christian and believe in both the Bible and science equally because we still physically need science to survive in this world not just faith but both, right?

As in Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit? None. Just names for God's active force or power.
As in spirit creatures and dead human ghosts. Spirits are real, ghosts are not. Eccles. 9:5,10 shows a dead human has no work, wisdom, knowledge or effect on the living. They feel neither pleasure nor pain.

ghost is usually referred to as evil or bad and well....dead
While spirits normally help and heal for example Holy Spirit and don't necessarily have to have died in the first place to become one but even so there is not theat much of a difference
