Religious People: Did you see the earthquake in Peru killed 200 people in a church?

I was wondering what the religious people think of the news this last week, the massive earthquake killed 200 people in a church, but knocked down a prison wall and released 250 desperate criminals? Why do you think a perfect God would do such a horrible unjust thing?

well,that is the question - why would god do such a horrible thing. people have been asking that since time began,and there is no answer. some things we will just never know. i am not exactly a religious person,but i do believe that everything happens for a reason,we may just not always know it.

My answer to this is that G-d created the Earth as he created human beings. As we know from a scientific standpoint, the Earth is everchanging and unpredictable. The quake could have just as easily killed 200 criminals by swallowing the jail and saved 250 church gowers, in which case you know the preaching Christians would shout praises to the high heavens. Regardless, I pray for the family members of the victims.

Why do you say God did it? Is it because you believe it was what people call "an act of God? People call it that. Not God! There are 3 criteria for an act of God.
1. It is always in harmony with God's purpose.
2. God gives warning before He acts.
3. God gives clear instructions for survival.

Examples are:
In Noah's time Genesis chapters 6-9
In Lot's time Genesis chapter 19

As far as the earthquake itself, people tend to build where they know such an event can happen. That is not God's fault.

Perhaps the 200 people in the chuch were ready for Heaven.
Maybe the people in the prision were given more time to repent before they have to face God.

To say God did something unjust, is to place yourself in jugement of God.

First of all you're assuming that God actually did this. They may be called "acts of God" but they aren't. James 1:13 says that "when being tried, to not say 'I am being tried by God' because with evil things God doesn't try anyone" (almost a word for word quote)

It's a simple matter of what King Solomon said at Ecclesiastes 3:11 "time and unforeseen occurrences befall us all."

how ever, i do not believe God was punishing the Catholics and rewording the criminals, by releasing them.

what i do believe is that so many people rejecting God protective hand, rejecting Jesus as their personal Savior, well, things happen, then they blame God. They reject him then blame him.

Maybe the majority of the inmates were praying for protection, while the Catholic church was busy with the "rosary" instead of praying to "Jesus"

I am not a Catholic, i am a Christian. I do not believe God punished them, i do believe they rejected his protective hand.

I know this is avoiding your question, but I think you should investigate the hand symbol of spook to make, I heard-tell that their was a Jew working on the Star Trek series and the hand symbol that Spook uses to say "live long and Proper" is actually a letter in the Hebrew alphabet meaning "God" so everytime Spook tried to tell other to live long and proper he was saluting God.

The world is an unsafe place where accidents always are going to happen, to 'good' and 'bad' people. That doesn't prove anything about God.

I'm a Christian, I really don't have an answer for it.

Any other Christian would give you one of the three answers.

1. It was a test of faith for people.
2. It was the people in Peru's time to go.
3. Due to the fact no one is perfect and everyone's a sinner, it is a punishment

But I don't have an opinion or answer to it.
