I'm an extremely active 14 year old girl who used to eat a TON of food but never gained a pound. Now I put myself on a diet because I wasn't happy with the way I looked...just to lose a few pounds. I lost 13 but since then....I've gained four and still working my way up to five!!! I eat ridiculously healthy though. Cucumbers, carrots, spinache, milk, peaches, apples, bananas, grapes (all fruits imaginable) low calorie yogurts, oatmeal, lean meats etc....are all a part of my daily diet. How can I lose those pounds and keep them lost??

Sometimes ones metabolism slows down when they suddenly eat less... you probably lost a lot of weight first because your boly wanst used to you eating less yet.
Your body adjusts to you, if its used to you eating a vertain amount of food, it stores just enough 'til it assumes youll take in another meal. if you eat less now, your body is probably keeping in all it possibly can.
Exercise it the best answer, your active lifestyle should help you. New exercises also help because your muscles aren't trained yet with the new drill/movement. Also, dont starve yourself; take something everytime your hungry;eat the right food in good proportions. good luck!

You've just broken the cardinal rule in fat loss. You're cutting calories too much too fast. This slows your metabolism down real low and your body adapts to it. Eating 300 calories is no better than starvation... ok, maybe a TINY bit better. But it still puts your body into serious starvation mode. When you start increasing calories again, your body will hoard and store up every bit of food you eat since it has been deprived for so long. This is when the weight will start to pile on, even with 1000 calories per day. Incidentally, 1000 calorie diets are for hamsters and gerbils, IMO. I hope everyone reads this because cos I'm tired of saying it: The first thing you want to do when losing weight is NOT to cut calories. You ALWAYS start by cleaning up your diet. This means no junk, no soda, no candy, no doughnuts, no fried sh1t, and basically NOTHING unhealthy. You should be eating TONS of vegetables, fruits, healthy fats (fish oil, flax oil, avocados, nuts), good lean protein (with as little fat as possible) and keep your starchy carbs (rice, noodles, potatoes, etc) to an absolute minimum. Once you have done this, add some exercise to your daily life. At least 30 mins of brisk walking (you should be working up a sweat by mid point) everyday. Just by doing these 2 things alone, you WILL lose weight. I can guarantee you this. After you have done all this for about 3 to 4 weeks, THEN you can start to cut calories gradually. Start with a 300 calorie deficit. Then maintain for about 2 weeks. Then when your fat loss starts to plateau, which it WILL, cut it further by 300. Then when it plateaus again, repeat. You get the picture? Think about it: if you start by cutting you daily intake to a ridiculous 300, once you hit a plateau, which happens to everyone losing weight, what else are you going to cut? There's nothing more to take away... how much lower can you go? Zero calories per day?? Take home message: Cutting calories should be the LAST step. Think of it as the fine tuning. You need to work on eating right first.

Right now i am kinda like you 1 or 2 years ago, i can eat everything i want and a ton of it and won't gain a pound. Right now I'm 13 at 5"8 and weigh about 105. And just like you I'm extremely active (I play volleyball, soccer you name it!) Anyways I did a little research and it tells me that at this age your still growing, which means lots of food needs to go in you so that you can grow more. So mix up your diet a bit try some thing different. Plus if you keep trying to lose weigh at 125lb then your body might think it going to starve and then it may become 3 times as hard to lose weight. And just like they others said at first the body isn't use to the food but after some time it gets use to it so you gain weight. Plus for your weight and height (BMI) it says that your totally healthy!! while your at it check out his great website http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/

Luv ya!!

Hi,

I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.getgoinfo.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 5.49$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

maybe your body has gotten use to what you hae been eating and cos you went on a low cal diet now that u eating a bitmore its like 'holding on' to fat/cals incase you go on another diet - if that makes any sense!! lol!
maybe changing your diet! days where you eat less an days where you eat more, maybe increase your exercise!
staying on a fruit and veg diet might seem healhthy but u wont be able to keep it up and you'l end up putting on more weight wen u eat normal again, wich i am sure at some point you will!!
good luck anyways
your weight seems pretty good for your height thoug, you shudnt worrry too much about it hun :-)

i am 2o years old. my dietician told me that 1500 calories si not enough for my body. i am 207 pounds right now. i am on a 1800 calorie diet.

at 14 your body is still growing. you should be getting at least 1800 calories. start by slowly eliminating certain foods. and as you start eliminating more unhealthy foods increase your asctuvity by 10 minutes. this is what i was told.

your body is stabilizing you. 125lb. is normal for someone of your height. If you continue trying to lose weight your body is going to think that you are starving it and the metabolism will go down making it harder to lose weight. BE satisfied with your current weight, you do not need to look like the anorexic movie stars and singers. Learn to love the woman in your mirror.

If you are extremely active you are probably gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Measure inches not lbs.
