Not really. They don't belong in the wild anymore as they've been domesticated for thousands of years. Wild populations of dogs and cats would throw off the ecosystem. Why? They aren't natural predators! Everything is so carefully balanced as it is, introducing dogs and cats to the wild would be highly detrimental, both to the many cats and dogs that would starve to death and the wild populations of animals that would be decimated by the few that learned how to hunt well enough to survive. Bad idea all the way around, no matter how much some activists like to push that idea.

Dogs can no longer survive in the wild. They have become too dependent on people.

A few cats can survive, but not many.

We have a beagle we took in that was trying to survive and a cat that was trying to live on corn that fell out of our bird feeder. Neither would still be alive if we hadn't taken them in and we live in a very rural area with lots of "wild" land: woods and rivers, etc.

Life in the wild is not easy for any animal and huge numbers die of disease, starvation or are killed by predators.

domesticated dogs and cats can learn to live in the wild, but that's not what man bred them for.

and if you don't want to buy food for, or pay for medical treatment for an animal, then don't get one?

feral cat's and dog's are not only are potentially dangerous but health problems will happen and spreading the problem is also inevitable. Show some responsibility and take them to a shelter.

How high/drunk are you? I don't even understand this question! NO--domesticated dogs & cats are NOT meant to live in the wild---if this is what you're talking about.
