Danny has WIndows XP and Office XP confused. Microsoft Office is a suite of office applications (excel, word, powerpoint, etc...) Windows XP is the program that makes the computer work and provides the user interface (point and click). The main difference between Windows XP Professional(the operating system) and WIndows XP Home edition is that Professional has included more powerful networking tools, advanced administrator applications and is geared more for business use.
Home edition includes more powerful movie making and advanced media software applications that the average homeuser would find beneficial.

Since Sp2 - very little. You CAN use XP home for home networking (not sure where that came from), but won't store passwords. Remote desktop is also a XP Pro feature. Basically apart from a handful of bells and whistles, XP Home with SP2 is identical in build - they had to do this to patch many of the security issues which were unique to the Home version

Home edition is more for home use (obviously). XP Professional has more complicated and more advanced programs (for example: you can do more with excel on the professional version). It also has more programs normally used in offices, or when starting new businesses.
