Like if your leg or arm is in the same position for a very long time, it goes numb.

Either a nerve is compressed or the blood flow is cut off. I hate that numbness.

When a limb or appendage "goes to sleep", or becomes numb or prickly (everyone describes it differently), it is your body telling you that your circulation is not at it's best. Change positions, straighten the limb, and do some stretching to maximize blood flow to the area.

When to become concerned: If you have an area that is extremely heavy, red, and fevered, perhaps swollen- this is a sign of a blood clot, and should be examined by a health care professional immediately. Don't worry- I doubt you'll have to worry about this for a long, long time! :)

Your leg or arm falls asleep so you have to shake it until the circulation gets back.
