Pastors do not know the Bible. They know church doctrine.
Example: Most Pastors teach there is an immortal soul and that it lives on in heavenly bliss if you were good and tortured in a fiery hell if you were bad.
But notice God's Word, the Bible, about the condition of the dead.
Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 The dead are conscious of nothing at all.
And Jesus likened death to sleep at John 11:11-14
So, yes, they have been brainwashed by believing a false doctrine. Therefore, they perpetuate the lie.The Catholic Church adopted the teaching of the immortality of the soul in the 3rd century.
First century Christians never believed that the soul was immortal. They knew the scriptures well.
Ezekiel 18:4,20 The souls dies
Genesis 2:7 Adam was a soul, not given a soul.
Numbers 31:28 Animals are souls

The Bible is the ONLY source we have to know what to believe, what to do. It is the sole source for our faith and practice...so if a man that becomes a minister doubts the authority and accuracy of God's own Word, what is he then? What possible faith can he have? It would be the blind leading the blind. This is exactly what many so called "ministers" are today though. There is a wide and growing gap between the believers, and those that have become liberal. Yes, liberal. In the area of theology, to be liberal is NOT a good thing.
What you said about the sheep- THEY learn from the Pastor. Now if the Pastor is liberal, so go the sheep. The serious sheep recognize what's happening, and find a theologically balanced flock to join. Finding one of those these days is getting very hard to do.

Just because you don't believe it does not mean that millions of people are wrong. I believe the Bible and have seen all the supposed contradictions that have all been answered. We have more manuscripts of parts of the Bible than any other historical document out there. It is because they have studied it, many of them in Hebrew and Greek that they can believe it. They just don't read a bunch of websites that tell them all the negatives about it, but truly have studied it.

Most pastors know surprisingly little about the Bible. They were taught mainly about building the "business" of their church. They believe as their flocks--what they were told, not what they have read and studied for themselves.
Had they done this, the teachings would be radically different.

I know a preacher who is atheist now. How's that for knowing the material? The bible is the greatest tool for atheism ever!

Well... I lost my faith in Christianity when I was in Seminary... so...
That's when it became abundantly clear that God doesn't care for me or my folk.
Screw him, too.
