Poor little thing, I suspect he gets bored in our small place w/no garden. We bought a scratch post and some balls that he likes to play with, but I'm afraid he'll get bored and dumb down somehow. How can I intellectually stimulate my cat?

i don't know that cats need intellectual stimulation.

there are many cat toys on the market, however. maybe get him a variety? there are some unique toys out there these days -- the larger pet stores carry many different types.

cats love catnip as well. and it's cheap

you could consider purchasing some interactive toys to use when you are home with the kitten.

you can also leave a radio on for the cat during the day... so he can listen to the latest hits (well, sometimes it might be nice if they had the "company" of someone talking or background noise?)

Switch around his toys. Put some away for a while then take them out again after a few weeks. You can also get treat dispensing toys. One trick I used with my dog is to hide food around the house. It will keep him busy for hours! Catnip. Get a fish tank. Cats love watching fish. Or better yet, get another cat!

To stimulate your kitten, when ever you have 10 minutes get down and play with it. It will keep it happy and you will be able to have fun. this can also give you some laughter if you have had a tough day at work

play with him, or get another one. it should be really hard for a kitten to get bored, unless your home is boring. kittens should be frisky.

intellectually stimulate them? thats weird. i remmeber my old cat hated it when we spelled, he went crazy, but maybe play fetch or something...it really works for cats...thats of course if they are smart enough
