Why would anyone want a tatoo? What if you grow tired of it? Did you not get enough cuddling as a baby that you need a stranger to pick at your skin with some dirty needles?

Sorry, I worded this question in a very insenstive manner. I retract the last part for the sake of art personal preference.

I bet you're the kind of girl that goes out and bakes in the sun for HOURS on end, either that or you go and get one of those wretched spray on tans.
Thats shows as much insecurity as you claim getting tattoos shows.
The only difference is that we get beautiful art, whereas tanners get cancer.
Hmm...

Why would you question what someone else is doing to their body anyway? It's not your body nor is it any of your concern. A vegan might question why 99.9% of Americans live on junk food, but it doesn't concern them. People have different ways of expressing themselves as well as thier love for art. To each his own. Live and let live. Ever heard any of that. Getting tattoos have nothing to do with the lack of "cuddling" recieved as a child. Why do you have to bash tattoos? The question is did YOU get poked with dirty needles by a stranger??? I love all my tattoos! You won't get tired of them if they're someting that's meaningful to you. Haven't been tired yet. You were permanent right? And by now I'm sure your parents are tired of you, so relax and get it together. Grow up a little bit.

Tattoos mean different things to different people. People will get inked to mark the milestones in their life...birth or death of a loved one, celebration of an accomplishment, a reminder of things past, to pay homage to someone or something, personal beliefs...there are more reasons than I could list. Of the four I have, three are family related and one is for a personal belief.

As for having a stranger picking at your skin with a dirty needle, maybe you should open your eyes and expand your mind. Try visiting a reputable tattoo studio and see how things are done. Tattoo studios are overseen by local health departments to ensure safe practices. Do you HONESTLY think that with the worldwide push for HIV prevention that the tattoo industry would not have standards and regulations to follow? Yes, you will find a rogue artist that does not follow these standards and will end up making people ill, but I gaurantee that the vast majority of tattoo artists are just as concerned about THEM not getting a disease as the patient is about not getting one.

Well, just because you don't want one now (considering your closemindedness and lack of knowledge about tattoos- you must be about 12), doesn't mean you won't want one later. I have mine in a private place, it is my past present and future. I have it for me and me alone. Why would I get tired of my own life. Being adopted into a family that couldn't have kids, I was given all the love in the world. Reason why they are apart of my tattoo. I wouldn't get a tattoo if it was a dirty place with a dirty needle.

I had a friend who got a tattoo commerating his cousins who went to join the Australian forces overseas - the meaning behind the tattoo was truly beautiful and extremely meaningful to him.

You know what... watch an episode of Miami Ink and then ask what's up with tattoos!!!

have you ever changed your appearance? never gotten a hair cut or colored your hair, never had nails painted or manicured?
i like having them, of course mine never show unless i want them to but it's my way of expressing how i feel. i have 4, soon to get more though. they all have meaning, they are all special and i will never get 'tired' of them.
yes some people do act dumb and get crazy meaningless tattoos but those are only people who aren't smart enough to consider the consequences.
yeah... how the hell would no cuddling make you get tattoos? lack of cuddling makes whores not tattoo'd people

It is not for everyone. Some people like to signify the importance of a child or lost loved one. I personally have two and they are hidden. They are tasteful and they have great meaning to me.

Why do we get piercings, dye our hair, etc? It is our way of setting ourselves apart from one another, self expression. You don't have to agree with others self expression but you should always respect it.

I have tattoos to remember loved ones I have lost to cancer, for my kids, and for my faith in Christ.
Each one is special to me.
I don't wear any jewelry except for my wedding rings so it's kind of like jewelry to me.
Why are you such a mean, judgemental person???? You've got some serious hang-ups.
