I really want to get a mac and although I'm very good with adapting to new computers I'm worried that I'll have trouble adapting to the software on a mac. If i upload that software and then find out that I hate it... can I change to windows? Will this be really expensive? Is it a stupid idea? i just really hate how hard it is to organize folders in a mac.

Hi...and congratulations for thinking for yourself about computers. The reason I say that is because, in my opinion, PCs are the biggest hoax ever played on the public. PCs were sold as being easier to work, when, in fact, they were far harder and had a whole lot more to go wrong. But, the average person didn't know the difference, and because of the intense PR -- and the fact that Macs cost a bit more -- the public went for the PC.

Then, because there were lots more PCs sold, the hackers designed the viruses to fit that platform. That's the usual excuse to explain why there are no viruses for Macs and thousands -- yes I really did say thousands -- of viruses for PCs. The real reason Macs don't have viruses, I believe, is the basic structure of the Apple operating system. It just doesn't lend itself well to being infected.

Wondering how to find a file in a Mac? It's easy. Just run the finder and it will show you quickly. Run the finder on a PC, and you have time to go to lunch and even eat dessert, before you get an answer.

PCs have about a three-year life expectancy, in my observation. Macs just keep going and going. I'm still using (and running the lastest operating system OS X Tiger) my Mac G4 that I bought SEVEN years ago.

It's not that I don't know PCs. I have two state-of-the-art PC laptops, running Windows XP. They drive me nuts with the constant need to install security updates and patches...whew. That's just waaay too much time that I'd rather spend doing neat stuff on my Mac.

This is all my opinion, of course. But, if you are really worried, buy one of the Intel Macs. It allows you to run both kinds of operating systems...PC and Mac too. But, if you get a virus on the PC side, it will affect the whole computer.

Again, congratulations on thinking for yourself. You are, indeed, smarter than the average bear. And, good luck on whatever you decide to do.

The new Macs will allow you to run Mac and Windows. Most people who've used both extensively prefer Macs. Windows has been copying and playing catch-up with Mac OS for years and is doing a poor job of it.

If you get a Mac and don't like the Mac OS, you're able to just use it as a Windows computer, which is in my opinion a waste of good hardware. The Mac OS will multi-task, use memory and do almost everything better and faster than Windows, especially Vista. I use both and although I admit that Windows has gotten much better since Windows 2000, the current Mac OS, 10.4, is far superior.

Try it, once you've gone Mac, you'll never go back!

Go to the nearest Apple Store and try them out. ASK a million questions!!! Ask about running Windows on OS X.

Then, decide for yourself.
