No, it will not be fattening and it is fine for you. If the flavor helps you drink more water, that is a good thing.

But, please do not believe lemon juice will burn fat. Anyone who tells you that (including the trainer from the gym in the answer above) does not know what they are talking about, and is just spreading a popular myth.

Don't you think if lemon juice really burned fat, everyone would be drinking it and we'd all be thin? And maybe, if this were true, we'd hear about it on the news?

Hope that clears things up,

Have lemon juice in cooled boiled water first thing in the morning as has been suggested, but you could also try Green Tea....it has many beneficial properties and may help in weight control over a period. I don't particularly find it tasty, but if you have it with a couple of spoons of honey it's more palatable=]

Fat will only disolve if you are burning it up
Lemon in your water will not disolve fat if
you are not burning the energy creating the need

Yes. A small amount of lemon juice in your water has a number of good effect. You body thinks you ate something and speeds up metabolism and digestion.

The low acidity causes your stomach to wake up and prevent acid build up common to water diets. Vinegar works for as well.

The lemon juice prevent microbes in the water from thriving.

I help in the absorption and retention of water. If you experience water gain certain time of the month you may need a diuretic. Talk to a real doc if that happens.

The psychological effects of tasting a flavor is good and helpful in a diet.

Pineapple is very good too. I like to throw the peelings of a pineapple in my 5 gallon cooler and enjoy a little pineapple flavor.

I practically live on plain water (in addtion to whole grains, beans, soy, fruits and veggies, of course). Though I do occasionaly drink coffee and have some vanilla soy milk every morning with breakfast. Occasionaly, though, I do put lemon and/or lime juice or organic lemon ade with my water and sweeten it with Stevia, a natural sugar alternative. Lemons and limes are both fruits and naturally fat free. If the juice adds any calories to the water, its trivial.

I don't mind plain water. (My husband and I have a water filter on our tap.) I enjoy it. But occasionaly, though something different is nice.

it won't be fattening, it'll help with your digestion and calorie burning, plus it'll make you feel better generally as the variety will affect you psychologically.

try some other things as well like vanilla extract/essence and small amounts of squash flavourings.
