A resent answerer said that I would get sliced to ribbons if I stayed an unbeliever. Is that a good reason to believe? Why would god need to threaten me with a sword? He should just start hanging out with us here on his miserable creation, I'm sure he would get a few more believers.

I suggest we all start praying for forgiveness and accept christ into our hearts or jesus will start spitting swords at us.

Jeancommunicationsl, its not an old question, go back a page or 2 on this and you'll see it for yourself. Unlike your god, there is proof of believers condemning nonbelievers to hell.

Well first of all believing in Christ does not guarantee that you won't get sliced to ribbons. Some early Christians were practically ripped apart. ...and guess what, Christ did hang out here with us. Remember, he did take the form of a man, and today he has millions/billions of believers.

Heh, it's bible-thumping extremists like that which give Christianity a bad name. Most believers aren't that bad. I think in cases of people who take it to such extremes, they're mostly concerned over themselves. Meaning, they've invested so much time and energy into their religion, they simply can't handle the concept that they're wrong. So rather than give others freedom of choice, they make up all these vile threats, attempting to coerce others to believing the same thing as a sick way of self validation.

As I said, MOST Christians don't act that way. Generally just the teenagers, but I occasionally have seen adults with such behavior as well.

Thats what Chirstianity is all about. Inducing fear into people to make them belive the same thing they believe. They tell atheists that they will go to hell for all eternity and blah blah. Yeah thats very helpful, we dont even believe in hell! Stop threatening us with your stupid fairy tales and folklore. Maybe then we wouldn't have so many angry atheists on here. You guys just don't listen do you? I have no problem with Christians at all and I respect what they belive, but when you start talking to me like that, I will not tolerate it.

Yes, if it can help you survive another day to fight these murderous ideologies and their fundamentalists.

I guess this is what led to a rebellion of a third of the angels in the so-called christian paradise lol

> Is avoiding getting sliced to ribbons a good reason to start worshiping jesus?

If anyone can relate to being threatened into Christianity, I'm among those most affected. As far back as I can trace with actual documentation, my family has been persecuted for our faith in Judaism and killed/beaten for not giving in. 8 great aunts/uncles burned in Auschwitz for not converting. Great grandparents beaten when entering America by "soldiers of Christ". And even through my own experiences, I can't even count the number of times I've been threatened with eternity in Hell or even violence by "christians". Get over your own self-righteousness, it really looks bad on you.

I would rather get sliced into ribbons than worship Jesus (peace be upon him). If I worshiped Jesus that would mean I am going against God...Astagfirullah. I would never do that. Only GOD is worthy of worship, not Jesus or anyone else.

It's a logical fallacy to say that one should believe because otherwise bad things will happen.

Besides, the recent answerer would be just as screwed if it turned out a different god existed.

No, this is just the same as motivating a horse by giving it sugar if it obeys you and whipping it if it does not. It shows that whoever uses such routines is pathetically immature and wrongly believes everyone else is as childish as he is.

Well there are certainly lots of unbelievers, and oddly, I DON'T see them getting sliced to bits by God!!!

By the way, He is 'hanging out with us' in His glorious and beautiful creation!

Worship Jesus because He made the ultimate sacrifice to save you from eternal damnation. It's not a threat. Just a choice we all must make.

It may sound cruel, but look at it from God's perspective. You cannot be in His presence in your current condition. Your sinful nature would be destroyed by the glory of God and you along with it.

Jesus paid the price for your sins. All you need to do is accept that in your heart. Yes, you can reject Him, but then God must reject you.
