There is a Christian family on our block who are always throwing their dogma at us. I smile, tell them yet again I'm not religious and try to make a break for it.....they just keep on talking....its like having to hear the slow kid in class stand up and read.....its sad but what can I do.....and not be too rude?

My wife just said that next time we are going to tell them we are on our way to sacrifice a rabbit in our back yard to God!...this might work...but the rummors would be crazy!!

Keep humoring them, after all, they are so humorous.
Don't talk about sacrificing rabbits, you'll just get the PETA people mad (and they are a PITA). Instead, invite them to your next Bacchanalian orgy - midnight Saturday, come nude and bring blankets and wine. Make sure your cameras are charged in case they actually show up.

I'm a Christian myself, and i know their reasons behind it. They are told to spread the word of God to nonbelievers, and they're just trying to do that.
If you really want them to leave you alone, say something like "Listen, we're not christian, but we respect you for what your trying to do. Thing is, it won't work on us, but thank you. Can you please stop doing this?"
Not too rude, it wouldn't hurt me. But when you say this, try and understand their position. They're actually the brave ones in our faith.
Think about it, with the 12 apostles. Only one of them died naturally. One of them committed suicide. The rest of them were martyred just for showing their faith and teaching others.
It isn't much different today. No, I'm not saying that everyone persecutes against Christians, and no christian has ever persecuted. I know that the Crusades and the invasion of America against the natives in the sixteen and seventeen hundreds were a huge mistake, and not very christian-like, and even on here, on R&S i find many christians who are really disrespectful and bash atheists as much or more then atheists bash us! It really breaks my heart. But atheists still bash us here or not. I'm just 16, and you should see how much people try and disprove my faith in front of me because they can't stand i'm a christian. Yeah, i get tired of it on a daily basis. But no, i don't shoot junk back down their throats.
I'm glad that you don't want to be too rude, and you're trying to be respectful. We need more of you.

Just try to let them know that although you appreciate the help, you are just not interested in their religion and that you respect their values.
That's about the only thing that you can do shot of being rude.
I've had this problem in my neighborhood because my faith is different than the accepted norm. Hopefully you have luck with this.

You can't. Zealots of any religion cannot be reasoned with. Their religion has gone beyond a mere faith and has become a disease in their mind. A disease they feel must be spread. The only hope you have is to try and avoid them because there is no way of getting through to them other than being rude.

I say that NOBODY shouldn't have to apologise for their faith.

as a catholic who doesnt preach to anyone i do understand what your saying but I do have to say unlike you I respect people with the courage of their convictions to try to spread the word as they say and I resent your implication that they are retarded because they do that. I think you could explain in a firm way that you are not interested and ask them not to bring it up again

i dont humor them i am a Christian with firm belief in God i am a follower of Christ and claim no religion(Jesus didnt) explain to them you thank them but you are trying to humor them maybe they dont know
