of course they are businesses. That is how they are run. The more people they bring in the more money they make from the offerings. And they also get plenty of tax breaks from the governments. Its all b.s anyway

In my opinion, churches have gone the way of "advertising" and "incorportating." It is not the way churches are supposed to be, and "selling" religion isn't what the church (body of believers) is supposed to do. Admitedly there are some churches that do try to gain more members for the sake of keeping up finances on certain building projects, which is very wrong.:( Christians are to be humble people who do not "sell" anything of religion. A person cannot sell Jesus. Jesus Christ is the one who died for the sins of people. Why would you sell something that was meant to be free? It is wrong from any viewpoint. Only the Holy Spirit can convince a person to turn from their sins. Christians are just the ones He uses to let Christ's sacrifice be made known.
Just keep in mind: Religion you can sell, but Jesus Christ cannot be sold, for he is the only thing that was free from the start, whereas religion is manmade and many times in the form of stone or wood, that can be sold.

Any organization that has expenses and receives money has to have money management similar to a business. But is a church a "for profit business"? I don't think so. You attend voluntarily and you give voluntarily. They aren't "selling" services. However, if you are a believer in the faith, you will want to continue the work that is being done and money is required for that. Churches with a dynamic pastor or effective programs will grow, but churches are a charity.

The real church is not a place or a business. It is a collection of believers fellowshiping together. I don't go to church I fellowship with other believers. There is about 12 of us and we share in the duties. We have No preacher. We say the prayers and give the lessons. The body of believers takes turns doing this. We do take a collection but it all goes to charity. We use a charter school for service so we have no costs. We do not believe in denominations The Church of Christ is not a denomination it is a discription.

Absolutely. Anything that takes money in on a regular basis is definitely a business. Some churches make alot of money from tithing alone, which helps the church sustain itself. However, I can't think of a better place to invest in one's money. At least it is used for good.

I can't accept your definition of business.
A business deals with outsiders, in the marketplace, not with those already inside its organization.
To answer your question as it is written would be to agree that the church is in the business of selling Christ, and that is NOT what it is about.
And, any church that engages in a legitimate business, in my opinion, ceases to be a real church. THEN they have crossed the line from a non-profit to a for profit business.

seems to go into this, from a Christian point of view. They seem to conclude that under U.S. law, a "church" is exempt from taxation, even if it is not registered; and that "an incorporated church is a government agency"
other sources will indicate that a corporation is legally an individual and that *most* (for-profit) corporations have the psychology of a sociopath.

you now the better thing that tithing is never found in NT to be kept for christians according to the bible in Ephesians 2:15 that was removed, caused belonged to the old testament (Leviticus) they use the quoted in the bible of Malachi 3:10 to presuure people and the people who are lack of knowledge receive that pressure but you NEVER see that command set by Jesus or his disciples.
