There is something that “non-denominational churches” and “churches of Christ” have in common, the desire to draw people together in “unity”.
How this “unity” is accomplished and defined is, however, many times different.
There are some things that different churches (denominations) teach that other groups do not like. Many non-denominational churches try to draw people together from these various groups so they agree to just not stress these doctrinal issues. They “agree to disagree”. Their quest for unity involves ignoring the differences.
The Bible however says that Christians should “all speak the same thing” and have “no divisions”. (1 Cor. 1:10, Amos 3:3, Romans 15:5-6, Phil. 2:2, 2 Cor 13:11) When you simply ignore differences, there is not true Biblical unity because the differences still exist.
The Church of Christ, however, wishes to establish true unity by eliminating doctrinal differences! The church realizes that the Bible is useful for our doctrine, correcting error, reproof, and instruction (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We should look to the scriptures to see if a doctrine is true! (Acts 17:11) Just because someone does or does not like something, that does not mean we should teach it or stop teaching it (2 Timothy 4:2-4)! We should preach the truth!
When two people disagree on a matter of doctrine, to find true unity, they must both submit to a standard of authority. That authority has to be the word of God! They should recognize the difference, and have the attitude “Nevertheless what do the Scriptures say!” (Gal. 4:30) They should both submit to God’s word.
To eliminate division, the Church of Christ wishes to speak where the Bible speaks, be silent where the Bible is silent, do Bible things in Bible ways, and call Bible things by Bible names! Our plea is to see what the Bible says and believe that, and we invite all others to do the same! We want to only be the church you can read about in the Bible in name, teaching, organization, and methods of worship.
This is how true Biblical unity is achieved!
The attached links will take you to articles that discuss the church of Christ in more detail. The Church of Christ is not a denomination! I invite you to investigate it further.
Compare the things we teach to the Bible! If our doctrine is scriptural, found in the Scriptures, accept it! If the things we teach are not in agreement with the Bible, then reject them! No church should object to such a comparison to scriptures! In fact, they should encourage it!

Howl,
The Churches of Christ split many years ago (1950s). There are now Denominational AND Non-Denominational Churches of Christ. They have similar ideology but different applications of that ideology. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds
I belong to a Non-Denominational Church of Christ. We have only ourselves to answer to besides GOD and HIS SON. Christ os the Head of the CHURCH according to the scriptures. We have Elders and Deacons as described in the New Testament Scriptures. They must meet scriptural qualifications and have specific duties. We also have preachers that are given specific duties also in the Bible.
Thanks for asking...

No.
It is a denomination; although they may tell onme they are the 'original' church and use texts like Romans 16:16 to support their claim. I was raised in the church of Christ; and even a deacon in it. I learned so many deviations from God's word, it is useful now that I have left it.
