A Church is a Temple. For many years men tried to build temples to God to bring offerings, so they were bringing the offerings to God while living slaves at home, poor in the streets, orphans in the streets, and widow women in the streets. So Jesus came to shows that the temple of God is in us, our body is a small temple to hold a little fire of the Holy Spirit of God, at the same time, Jesus became again a spiritual being so that when we are in Jesus and he in us together with the Holy Spirit we are part of a greater Temple built by Jesus in three days.
The other meaning of Church can be any congregation were two or more are united in the name of Jesus to speak, glorify, or study about God's doctrines in Jesus. So you can make a church out of your family, friends, matrimony etc.
The other other concept is the one where you are mislead, because the original believers who hold meetings are not anymore alive. And that is why he said Do not listen when they say : Here is the Christ, or here. Because he is supposed to be in your heart, coming down in the clouds (or confusions of the world) in bright light of understanding.
So as in his second coming.... Get it?

As with everything, it depends on the context.
It can refer to a physical building but can also refer to the rhetoric & sometimes to a particular Sect's Administration.

From the Greek word 'ekklesia' - gathering of believers for worship.. Christian community..
In the Bible, it is not usually rendered as a place. It is usually rendered as an assembly of believers.

Church is institutionalized religion. It is a very effective way to impose authority on the masses, extract money, impose laws, and suppress consciousnesses.

Church in the Christian sense......refers to the body of Christ.
The 'body' meaning....the believers.....where Jesus is the head.
But of course......church also means the actual building too.
