im an atheist and sometimes i find myself saying the same things the average religious nutball would happily proclaim
such as....

I'm right... you're wrong
blank is the only way to think
and the list goes on

how do we prevent atheism from becoming another dogmatic pursuit...

Try not to be too rightous and thats fine. Religion is rubbish anyway in my opinion but if someone believes in something and they are not harming anyone else or pushing their views on people then what is the harm.

Dont be an extreme atheist!!!

If Atheism is becoming such a popular trend it's because so many are pissed-off by the catastrophies religions bring to the fabric of a free, liberal society - it will not become a religion.

Now, if you make a claim, be perpared to back it up. It's a question of integrity, as a theist or atheist it makes no difference.

As for the suggestion that agnosticism might be the answer, it's just atheism not daring to say its name :)

It won't.

- Atheists don't have an "un-holy book."
- There are no atheist churches, or boathouses or stripmalls or Port-o-potties or other congregation hangouts for everybody to meet.
- There aren't any "athei-angelists" to spread the same word to all like-minded people
- There's $000.00 in the atheists' petty cash.
- Atheists would refuse to pray or tithe.
- Not enough atheists really give a sh*t about making it "official."

"ATTENTION: Today's religious gathering for atheists has been cancelled due to lack of interest."

What you say to them will not make atheism a religion. We just try to show them truths but they don't listen. So do as I do tease them about it. I put a question on here the other day I got kicked off for it but it was worth it.
They fell for it they thought I was telling the truth. But I was only joshing.

There are dozens of dogmatic pursuit. Go into any pub and you will hear them at the bar pontificating about things they usually know nothing about. Why? it's fun and not to be taken seriously.

atheism is simply the lack of belief in god/gods

anything else is entirely up to the individual

as such it cannot be a religion - we're not organised, we don't collectively agree on things.

Besides why would anyone say "blank is the only way to think"?

Get together with other atheists and you will quickly realize that we don't agree on much except the fact that there is no god. There is absolutely no chance of it becoming anything like a religion.

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank YOU, for your honesty... rare lately,
as many still try to justify their lawing (lying);
but no man justified by law(lie) in God's sight,
which the evidence makes PLAINLY "evident".

Atheism is already the new (IMPure) religion.
It's also new & dead way, not the new & living way.
Being right, to make others wrong, also deadly wrong.
Grace: U-nited: is "above" such Law vs Law: Dividead.
Grace doesn't make or take sides, has no 'side' effects.

Good(God) thing about Atheists: they challenged X-ians.
Xians made Christ-ianity both sweet(grace) + bitter(law).
Problem is, their atheist law is also "both good and evil".

I'm glad atheists aptly challenged the nutball Jesus-ians,
exposing "many" so-called Christ-ians, as unjust X-ians,
law IMPuting sin and death to others, for the "hell" of "it".

I'm delighted to hear an atheist think higher than law law,
and would that we all are one would think more globe-all.

Grace is good only, never d-evil (law)... higher God
Law is both good and evil, ends evil... God on high
If justified by Law, then fallen from Grace... Fallen

Baby-lon is twice fallen: "is fallen, is fallen"... to earth
Christ is twice risen: "above" law law to grace... heaven
Jesus is risen to Right of L/R sides of Law vs Law on high
Atheists went Left, not liking condemnation of Jesus-ians

Let us all go on, from Left vs Right, to higher than dividead.
L/R sides wars are so Hatfields vs McCoys, a blame game.
Blame game inducts all players in a hall of shame, not fame.

The GRACE(ONLY) of our Lord J-->C with you-->all. Amen.

If you don't believe in anything like a idol; or God Then you believe in nothing but yourself, & you are surely not a God. Therefore An Atheists will never become a religion,, You may becaome a non thinker cult.

well it cant be a new religion since atheism means one doesnt believe in religion
One can always stop and think about what they are going to say and whether or not they want to argue with someone about who is right and who is wrong
