I am invited to a wedding of a coworkers and I cannot eat anything at the reception due to the use of latex gloves in the food prep area(highly allergic to latex). I want to go to the reception, but I don't want the bride and groom to pay for me if I am not going to eat. How do accept the invite and tell them don't set a place for me??? Or do I just go, say nothing, and don't eat? I am about to decline going at all.

Once a kitchen has been contaminated with latex, all it takes is just one microbe for a reaction. Whomever was touching the food before with gloves would contaminate it and how would they know what's been touched and not? This is a difficult allergy to deal with.

Definitely let them know about your condition and I am sure that they won't care about you not eating. They probably just want to have you there for their special day. Perhaps they would even let you bring some outside meal into the reception. I am sure that they want all of their guests to be happy and will be completely understanding of your situation but you have to tell them first. If you go and don't eat it might seem like you are being a bit rude or some other misunderstanding.

By letting them know ahead of time, you will not have to stress about it and can enjoy yourself and help them have the happiest day ever!

Good luck to you! Everything will be ok. And remember to have fun!

Find out what time the dinner is. Do not acknowledge the RSVP and show up at the reception after you eat your own meal at home. If you state that you are allergic to latex(gloves) then you will be putting your health in the hands of others. But before you decide what you should do, Find out if the gloves they use are latex by finding out who is catering the meals and call them and let them know your concerns. I would not worry the Bride/Groom of the problem.
Good Luck

Just be honest, tell them that you are going to the reception but will not be eating because you are extremely allergic to the latex gloves they use to prepare the food.
Maybe they will say that they will make a special plate without the latex gloves being used or offer to bring your own dinner.

Ask your friend that they not use latex gloves. You could even provide them yourself. A box of non-latex gloves should be under $10, right?

If you really want to go, be honest with your coworker. I'm sure they will understand your dilemma and help you work around it. If they invited you then they really want you to be there to help share and celebrate in their special day.

Let the bride and groom decide how to best handle the issue of your food allergies.

Best to explain to the coworker. Im sure they would understand. You cant control this and you dont want to waste a plate, or have to pay for it when you are not eating.
Sorry about your allergy, that is very limiting =(

Take a doggy bag with you when no one is looking tip the food in it and bring it home.

PS: hope you doggy is not allergic to latex too.

Why not explain the situation to your co-worker? That way you two can work out the details.
