Why is it that so many mothers and daughters don't get along. I don't understand this.

Because the daughter is trying to be independent and as a mom we always think we know what is best for our children. We tend to be overprotective of our daughters and want a good life for them and seem to worry about them more and in different ways than we do our sons.

Mainly because as teenagers daughters want to date boys and go out to parties when the mother is over-protective. They get into arguments and the daughter disobeys her mother resulting in even more arguments.
Normally they are both at fault but sometimes it is one more than the other. The daughter wants to enjoy herself the mother doesn't want her to get hurt.
Of course there are other reasons but this I feel is the main cause for it.

i don't get this either, my mom and i couldn't stand each other (during teen years) until i had kids of my own. now everything is great, she is my best friend, we exchange advice, everything i wanted as a young child. i guess she just wanted to be my mom then, now we can be friends.

Sometimes it's because they're too much alike.
