So what is 'normal'?? Are you happy with 'you'?? If so, then you're good as you are!
If you feel like you want to lose weight, then the best way to do that is a healthy diet - eat healthy, small portions, and exercise. Lifting weights, even lighter weights, help tone your muscles and speed your metabolsim. Then do some cardio exercise too.....walking, running, step machine, cycling, etc...
20 minutes per day 5 days per week is all it takes... Two days to lift weights, and 3 to do cardio.

You will lose weight fast if you do those 3 things....!!

Using a body mass indicator calculator given the values you have given and estimating your age at approximately 14y/o, your weight places you in the 93rd percentile of girls your age. This is considered to be at risk for becoming overweight. Although not overweight right now, you have the potential for becoming overweight so prevention of excess weight gain is important. Children and teens should NOT be placed on a weight reduction diet without the consultation of a healthcare provider.

As you may continue to grow and loss of "baby fat" is common at your age emphasis is placed on not adding additional weight. DIeting in the early female teen can cause growth and female cycle complications.

Just eat sensibly and watch to ensure that you maintain your weight for now. As you get older you can lose some weight. If you feel you must lose weight, try not to lose more than 2 lbs per month, your weight would decrease 1stone 4 over the next year and you would be quite slender at 1.73m and 10 stone 14.

NOTE: The BMI is an index only and is not as accurate an evaluation of body composition as evaluation by a health care provider. An American example of this is the basketball star Tim Duncan. He is 7 foot tall and at 230 using a BMI indication he is overweight, though actually he is toned and muscular and muscle is known to weigh more than fat.

For the moment you shouldn't make any attempt to lose weight as you are still growing and your body is going through massive changes at the moment. Unless you are truly obese (which you are NOT) then no-one should diet while they are a teenager.

The best thing is to make sure that you get a good range of fresh fruit and vegetables and that you avoid overly processed foods like sweets and junk food. Try to take some exercise as this will help keep you supple and fit and will make you feel better.

You are not in any way overweight and please do not think that you are. In your teenage years your body is going to change a lot and you might find that you get a bit plump, but this is puppy fat and it your body's way of making sure that you have the right stuff to help it grow. As you grow older it will disappear. The advice I have given is so that you do not get into bad habits and start to eat junk food and sugars - avoid them now and you should be slim for life.

I was plump as a teen and thought that I was overweight and started to diet, rather than eat properly and take more exercise and it has taken me years to get my metabolism sorted out.

To be honest for your height I would say you don't need to worry. But if you want to loose some weight and raise your metabolism then eat a healthy diet and do some exercise, 45 mins 3 times a week would be plenty.
Swimming, running, speed walking, arobics, circuit training,
Badminton, tennis, there is lots to choose from. Try to get a friend to do it with you, this way you are more likely to keep it up.

Eat what you want as long as the fat content is never more than 5 grammes.

Jacket potato and beans, masses of chopped salad or big portion of veg. if you have to have a dressing just 1 tsp full.

Grilled chicken fillet masses of chopped salad or big portion of veg.

Grilled fish masses of chopped salad or big portion of veg.

Stick to a baked potato no butter or mayo.

No chocs or sweets.

eat fruit.

eat porridge in the morning, it gives you a study energy through the morning,

Avoid sugar as the more you have the more you want, use sweeteners.

If you really need a treat have one, but think about it and buy the healthiest unhealthy one you know of.

Drink water.

Avoid bread as much as you can, but if you need it buy and mixed seed loaf or granary, have 1 slice and eat it slowly.

You should loose weight steadily of you eat like this.

Always be sensible and never starve yourself.

you sound to me as though you are about 30 pounds overweight. especially for your age.

i would suggest that you stick to three meals a day to help you lose the weight. for example...
* a bowl of cerial
or
some fruit for breakfast is always a good option. and try to stick to the kind of cerials that are better for you like special k or bran flakes.

* and then for dinner a sandwich (2 slices of wholemeal bread filled with tunna - no butter / mayo)
or
you could always have some soup. id suggest going for a chunky vegetable soup (one that doesn't have a creamy sauce)

and then for tea keep it simple with some chicken / fish with either vegetables or salad.

this is what i eat on a typical day and i think this will definatly help you to lose the weight. im 5ft 6 inches and weigh 120 pounds (8 and a half stone).
excercise is always a good idea too...
3 times a week for at least 30 mins

best of luck

there is no way to lose the weight quickly. You can increase your metabolism by increasing activity, drinking lots of water and eating, yes eating. Other than that you are 13 and full of hormones that will cause your weight to fluctuate for the next 5 years or so.

Yes you are fine with that weight, if u r worried about becoming overweight in the future then start exercising but dont constantly worry about your weight,

im a male, 20 now but when i was your age i weighed about 70 and i was about 5 ft 5 so peple used to call me names in school and that, when i was 17 i put quite a bit of weight on and although no one said anything to me i was still paranoid about my weight so i basically stopped eating, just little and that. anywayz about 6 months ago i had enough of being skinny, im 5 ft 7 and weighed 59 kg 6 months ago, i didnt like how my cheeks went in (in my face mean :) and i was weak plus not as many girls were calling me cute anymore. so i started eating a lot to put weight on but i didnt no matter how much i eat, and now i have started loosing more weight even though i keep eating im down to 56kg now, so im pretty sure dieting all these years has damaged me inside plus effected my height.

so dont diet unless u r going to do it properly eg exercise and continue eating healthy and dont take anything like pills and that cus when youre all grown up and that u will probably regret it and it will definately effect your height cus up to about 16 i was taller than my mates however once i stopped eating properly they started passing me by in height and now they are all over 6ft,

Im not saying that height matters that much but still u shouldnt stunn your growth and im sure u look fine now and u dont sound overweight to me cus looking back now i wish i was 73kg now cus u look much better

Jesus christ don't listen to any of these people, I work with young people with eating disorders and suffered from bulimia (and still do to an extent) from the age of 13.

It's horrid having people tell you what size you should be, how much you should weigh but if I'm honest the scales and BMI are actually very inaccurate indeed. I was very ill at one point, I had no periods, my hair was falling out and my mouth was blistered from stomach acid. But my BMI was 19 (healthy).

The problem with the scales and BMI is that it doesn't account for muscle tone or bone density or frame. Another example of this is my partner who is 5'9, and he weighs 9 stone and has a lot of muscle tone. That actually sounds like a big fat juicy lie but his build/frame is teeny tiny and so he is light as a feather. He wasted loads of dosh on build up crap in his teeny tot years.

Only you know whether you are healthy and you can tell by how you feel. Do you feel healthy?

Also, don't ask other people what they think. I know how it feels to want reassurance and you prolly wanted either to be told you're fine or if not given a quick fix.

The thing is, if you aren't happy with how you look or feel then it doesn't really matter what other people say. People with anorexia may be dangerously underweight but they are unhappy with their weight so diet despite what others tell them and likewise obese people may be very happy with how they are and carry on eating loads despite what others tell them.

The point is, no matter what you look like it's how happy you are on the inside that counts, and that's really true. I mean philosophically people are trying to lose weight because they think they will be happier but what does that matter if you are already very happy?

If you are unhappy, there is nothing wrong with healthy eating and exercise. Low intensity, muscle building exercise is best because it burns calories and muscle is self-metabolising (which means it needs to burn energy/calories, even when you are sat watching tv, to to maintain itself). If you build up your muscle you will need to eat more just to maintain your body weight.

At 13 you shouldn't be drinking lots of alcohol anyways but avoid it, one bottle of vodka contains more calories than a macdonalds and has no nutrician in it!!

At 13 you need LOTS of energy to grow up and what not. Chuck the calorie counter in the bin, throw out the scales and start eating fruit, veg and lots of complex carbs (like pasta, brown bread, brown rice, potatoes etc). Drink loads of water (cos any fat lost needs to be flushed out) and take a 3mile walk a day. It sounds like a pain in the **** but believe me it will work. And for god sake if you want a treat HAVE ONE!! Go out for a meal, have a candy bar, eat a burger . . . . just make sure it's not every meal of every day and make sure most of the time you snack on fruit or veg.

If you want any advice please email me =)
