The reality is we are all individuals and there is no universal best time to work out. Your body really doesn't care, and despite all of the myths out there to the contrary (including in some of the answers above), it is NOT scientifically proven that one time of the day is universally better than another.
The best time to work out for you is when it is most convenient to do so. That way you are more likely to work out on a consistent basis, which is more important than anything else.
Hope that helps,

i would say during the evening... because when i exercise (REALLY exercise-like running an hour + weights) i get tired when i am back home and all i want to do is take a nap.. so if i were to do that in the morning, all i want to do is sleep.. but if you do that at night, when u get home, u can just shower and go to bed.. i've been doing it for 2 months and i have lost 25 lbs so far... good luck

Morning exercise is good, because it will get your adrenaline going for the day and jumpstart your metabolism for the day as well. if you exercise at night, all you'll be doing is losing sleep for the exact same reason why it's better to exercise in the morning. Try taking a jog before you go to bed at night as proof; it won't wear you out, it'll just keep you up because you've woken your body up. It's ready and rearing to go....and will retaliate with a sleepless night if you try it.
