I went to grade school in the 60s; and they tried to classify me as "mentally retarded" because I didn't pay attention; I spent most of my class time drawing pictures or trying to sleep. I also had poor coordination and was lacking in social skills.
They tested my IQ, and the results were somewhere between 130 and 150 (I can't remember the exact number). Today, I guess I would have been classified as learning disordered, ADD, or mild autism but they didn't have all those classifications back then; either you were "normal", "retarded" or "hyperkinetic" (hyperactive). Grade school and high school both sucked as far as I am concerned.
I took one of those Internet IQ tests and got a 150; I'm not sure how accurate that is, though.
I can finally say I am fairly successful at my job, but the money isn't all that great, and other people got more promotions and so on because I wasn't very good at winning people over. Now I feel like I have respect from people, but it took me a very long time to get there, and now I'm about 5 or 6 years from retirement.

Depends on why it's being asked. If it's a serious question, then yeh, I'd answer. Why not? It's not bragging. It's stating a fact (or at least a test result).
As others have pointed out, IQ means little in the way of making your way in the world. Work on your other skills, too. They tend to be more important later than just pure smarts.

Yes but if you know get to know someone well enough then you will know if they are lying or not. I knew this kid in high school who said he had a high IQ and he too did not want to tell anyone his other friend went around spreading the word. He was a quiet funny kid. But it was not until next semester when he was in a class of mine and we became good friends.
You know when you get the highest mark in a class how sometimes they hold theses things in the gym were you go upstage and have theses papers given to you. This kid had like a binder full of them. Plus he got me though like 2 courses that I would have failed if it was not for him being my partner. I do not like to slack off in group projects because of letting others down but this guy would do the whole things no matter what you did. He had a 2 week group project done in 2 days and got the four of us like 80%+ and he got like 100%.
So if your IQ is high and you get high marks or can do things others cannot then in time others will know your not lying. I accually had a crush on him but then school ended and I never saw him again. O well.

Unless it is a valid component to the conversation at hand, telling people you're a Mensa member or that you have a high IQ is bad manners because it IS bragging. I have reason to know, because mine is approximately the same as yours and I try to be polite, though I live in the land of pre-evolved ape men where intelligence is extremely rare and manners are something of the antediluvian past.

People might consider it bragging but most of them don't even know what's theirs!! I always thought it was 94 until I got out of the NAVY and got tested for vocational rehabilitation to see what programs might help get a better job. At that point I scored 149 and was told that the 94 was the percentile of people according to the test who are below and above. But feel proud and keep head on high above 120 or 130 means genius or very gifted and use it for the benefit of the world not just for yourself!!!!

Your IQ will change as you age trust me.I tested 152 in 9th grade then when I did one for a job search when I was 30 it was only 136.I don't place much on IQ's as you need to have a personality not a overactive brain to make it most places in this world.Smart and personable is the key to success

Are you still in Jr. High?
I.Q. changes over time.
What have ya' done fer' me lately, baby?
Had a prof in a small junior college who had a Ph.D. in chemistry from Berkeley. The guy worked for a mining company for ten years before he was fired. He couldn't handle administration so a guy with an M.S. was head of the department.
I.Q. was not intended, is not, and, will never be a measure of success or ability in the real world.
It is only a measure of how much you can learn.
You may go far in school, but can you put it into practice?

lol.... of course its not bragging if someone asks you a question and you answer it honestly. I wouldnt continue talking about my IQ unless there were questions pertaining to it though. A high percent of people do not like to converse with other people that talk about themselves all the time. Catching up and talking about whats new or whatever is just fine. But if someone asks, of course its not bragging :]

I Q, intelligence quotient tests are actually not given lots, as they could't be 'normed' to diverse the inhabitants and are as a result seen quite often invalid. anybody responds to testing in a diverse way, that's why standardized testing should not be used as a real indicator of a individual's incredibly information. as a result it concerns not what an "IQ" is, because it could desire to not properly are looking forward to how a individual will carry out in a given subject.
